Nice place! The food was very tasty and they have a large variety of dishes. The waiters were friendly and did a good service. The prices are reasonable and not overpriced. I definitely will go again and would recommend that place.

This place was such a disappointment.... Went with really average expectations and couldn't eat my food. Starter was a salad which was nice but then we got the main course which was lamb curry - the meat was 50% fat and when i said i can't eat it i was not offered to replace it with another dish, just heard "oh well" from the waiter. Not going back.

This is my second time eating at Shalimar and I have to say I would come here again!Generous menu, large variety of chicken, lamb, beef, fish dishes... some very flavoury, some spicy... surely everyone can find something to his / her liking!Nan, butter nan is a must... and don't worry about not having enough rice as a side dish... they keep the rice coming! With drinks expect a tab of 20 EURO or so.Guten appetit!

I felt like having some Indian food after a month in Germany. The place was full of Germans, so it was a good sign from the start. The food to me felt authentic and the staff were friendly. My chicken curry came in a clay pot, and tasted very authentic - loved it. If you look a good atmopshere and dont want all the bling, I would recommend this place. Parking doesnt seem to be an issue as this is a residential area. Ver carta

Every time I come to Darmstadt, which happens quite often for business (4-6 times / year) this is a must. I found out this place quite a few years ago thanks to an indian colleague and since then I always paid at least one visit per stay.Everything is delicious, the owner is exquisite in suggesting and kindly guiding through the menu to taste new dishes. Despite what I read in another feedback, I never ever got small portions, well it's usually just the opposite! I was staying overnight in Darmstadt (Ramada, 10 minutes footwalk from Shalimar) and visited this indian restaurant for dinner. The restaurant layout is the same as in literally every indian restaurant with all the indian style stuff: indian style chairs, wall covers etc. - even the temperature inside the trstauramt was indian style: quite warm. But it was a hot summer day anyway. The food (buttered naan, buttered chicken) was very nice. Althpugh the buttered chicken, which would be a brown creamy sauce was more a tomato based sauce.... which I liked very much as well. The meat was very good, and the indian beer (Kingfisher of course) was cold. The waiter was a very friendly and funny person...

Indian Pakistani cuisine, if you like oriental cuisine there is a lot to discover. I like fresh preparation best when it comes to bread. Then there are various amus to try with papadam, crispy wheat pastries. Very tasty, unfortunately I'm not allowed to eat it due to health restrictions. If you like spicy, this is the right place for you. Skewers from the tandor oven very tasty my favorite chicken and fish. It is recommended and worth visiting. Always open except Monday, closed day. 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. until the guest leaves. 11 p.m. Vegetarian dishes are also available, otherwise inquiries are very welcome.
