"we invited some of our German friends to an Indian dinner in hamburg. as we are native inder, we rarely go to an Indian restaurant in hamburg, as there is no decent, which also serves only approximately an authentic Indian cuisine. shalimar is a place we have known for 15 years in hamburg and have shown more authenticity in all the years. we have heard from friends that with the recent change of owners the quality of the food has improved and it is more like an Indian palette. our recent experiences were far from what we expected. beautiful location, good ambiente, but bad eating for local Indian conditions. we have checked whether they use a traditional Indian grill tandoor, the prerequisite for the most popular Indian grill. the waiter shared that they have a tandoor, although this is not the case in reality. the waiter who took care of us tried to push dishes that they would like to order. hey! they can help guests with suggestions, but don't decide for them. No more recommended place, unless they have to make an Indian experience with little knowledge of the kitchen. try them ashok, a modest local that comes closest to a real Indian cuisine . shalimar not again!"

the food was good when I compare it with Indian restos throughout Europe, but the amount was slightly lower compared to the price. the service staff was sometimes quite strange to offensive melodies, which is not acceptable at all. Ver carta

terrible place!! rude people ... cheap eating ... slow service. we always came here when we were in hamburg. with old management, it was never a problem. now there is management and the restaurant has turned south. I would not recommend this place.

we just wanted to give up the search when we found the lonely restaurant. we were tired and hungry, so we went a bit skeptical, but still surprised in. great service, tasty eating to fair trips and faster service compensated for the rewarding long search.

let me first say that the staff is absolutely rude and not exactly full for their business. the restaurant manager (sonja) has a ego of the size of a mountain and behaves like a bulldogge. eating is cheap and some of the worst chickens I've ever eaten, as well as the restaurant seems empty and empty with every day. ..ups! I can't recommend this. Ver carta

located on a quiet location in hamburg, it is specialized in dedicated customership. it fits due to the limited seat capacity. it has been run by an Indian Bungali lady for 28 years alone. very good selection of Indian appetizer chicken tikka looking kababab, mushrooms, we are very tasty. in the main dish were lamb, yellow dal, sol fish curry really good. the interior was tastefully designed. the owner of the print offer can be seen everywhere, be it eating, cutlery, sitting, etc. to be reasonable praises.

if they are hungry, they don't eat here... it's too slow, located in the courtyard of a modern multi-family house, I think... the fragrant at the entrance to shalimar was tempting, although I'm not a fan of hot? purple cover and wall color, but I didn't go there to eat a wall. the "Maharaja menu" has seduce us, so we ordered it. Never before have we experienced such a gloomy service in an Indian restaurant. in 90 minutes they had served us pappadums with 3 chutneys, naan, then half a portion garnel with spinat - tasty, but I could feel how the oil in it pimpel appeared on my face ... us half a cup mulligatawny. each after we had sat there for 90 minutes and stared out of the window, we said...

"There's always a question (in my mind, anyway) as to Michelin's accuracy/usefulness outside of France. In the US, it's not very helpful at all and in Europe ex-France, I've found it hit and miss. Haerlin represented only my second stab at a two-star in Germany and the first meal (Heinz Winkler), while a thoroughly wonderful overall experience, felt like the second star might have been a stretch. Not so at Haerlin, this was a two-star meal that stands fork-to-fork with any I can remember. The food is stylized to within an inch of its life, but close to flawless in both conception and execution. Outside of a large selection of generally unremarkable breads and a luke-warm roasted onion broth added to an amuse at table side that probably should have been hotter, the meal was simply one perfect dish after another. Maybe the sorbet intermezzo was a little old school in such a fashion forward meal, but - hey - it was delicious! Keep it.The room is suitably formal, luxurious in a traditional style, and quite comfortable. The pace of service might be a little leisurely for some (I ate alone and the four-course menu (seven + courses, including amuses, etc) pushed it a bit, stretching just over three hours. However, the friendly and attentive staff kept an eye out the entire time and stopped by if the time between courses presented the opportunity. The somm, in particular, was a great diversion, visiting from time to time to discuss the varied and interesting wines on offer. He provided useful insight into the outstanding selection of trocken Rieslings on the list. He guided me to a 2001 Burklin-Wolf GG that, at Eu 150, was both a great bottle of mature white and a tremendous value for a wine of this quality in this type of restaurant. (Good luck finding a white burgundy of this quality at this price at any multi-star restaurant - or at retail, for that matter.) He also suggested a wonderful German Pinot Noir by the glass that worked perfectly with the meat course and wasn't terribly expensive. The list is extensive, but not the tome you see at some restaurants, but don't be fooled - wine service at Haerlin is both a major plus and represents notable value in the context of multi-star restaurants.I'm not going to argue two-star vs three-star because that distinction often seems to be kind of mysterious (and tangentially related to the food), but I will say that this place certainly deserves two stars. I had just a flat-out great meal. If you can work in a visit, Haerlin should be high on your list."
