We’ve always ordered takeaway from here but never knew it was a restaurant as well. So we decided to pop in. Outstanding Food. Outstanding Service.

Called up to enquire about vegan options, staff were really helpful and reassuring. Ordered through UberEats and they called us back to inform us one of the items in our basket wasn't vegan and if we'd like to change it, which is above and beyond...in my book. Food is phenomenal with generous portions, absolutely recommended. Thank you Shimizu!

Had a delivery while staying on holiday in Exeter. A great selection of food on offer, it was reasonably priced too. It was delivery speedily and with an easy, non-contact delivery driver. The fish looked and tasted nice and fresh, the soft-shell crab tasted a...little tough, but I think this was due to travelling and sweating in the container during delivery. Would recommend. Rather unprepossessing but really good, authentic sushi. Unusually for a Japanese restaurant, it has a surprisingly good choice of vegan and vegetarian options the Chilli Soya Tofu was excellent. Not the cheapest, but in life you sometimes have to pay for quality. The likes...of Well Street and Sidwell Street are a refreshing change from the sterile chains in the Guildhall and Shimizu is well worth a visit.

Ordered through ubereats aug. There was a complication with our order and the man on the phone was incredible in doing his best to resolve the issue: very understanding, friendly and went out of his way for us. The sushi was AMAZING and priced...well. The other main meals (teriyaki chicken and chicken catsu) were quite tasty, I was just disappointed with the small portion sizes. Would be five stars if the portions were bigger.

I haven't really had much Japanese food, but I ordered this from Deliveroo last week. It arrived mins later than they said it would, with no apology, but the food was excellent. It tasted so good, I loved it all. I had the chicken...bento box and there was so much to chose from. I'm a bit worried about ordering sushi but the sushi that came with it was like nothing I had tasted before so fresh and tasty. Will be having Deliveroos from here from now on. Thanks. Ver carta

We were planning on a family meal at Wagamamma, but the queue was ridiculous. Searched online for Japanese and found this place a min walk away. It's nothing fancy to look at (think cafe style) and it's small, but I learned long ago not...to judge a restaurant by it's decor. The menu is extensive, the service friendly and the food was superb. We love Japanese and I've eaten in many. In terms of value for money this place is hard to beat. The Tempura was perfect, the Temaki hand rolls were crammed with a generous portion of the filling you ordered (unlike Yo Sushi, where they seem to be getting smaller and meaner every time we visit). We visited Shimizu, for our first time, after a recommendation from very good friends. The restaurant is small and tucked away on a side street. However, after minutes inside it felt like the main business was more inclined towards a takeaway/delivery service rather than...a restaurant. We were really looking forward to our lunch on a bitterly cold day but have to say it did not give us the wow factor. It was very cold inside, so much so that I never took my coat off. The service lady, was friendly. The menu is big and varied with great choices, athough unfortunately they had no Tuna on the menu. The portions are very generous but there was little sauce on the Chicken Katsu Curry Don to soak...

I have ordered food from Shimizu many times without any issues. Ordered a delivery for my son's birthday celebration just after via Uber Eats. Update said the food will be with us between Bearing in mind it's a Saturday night we thought the...nearly hours wait was ridiculously long but understandable. At I called for an update on our food which was at this point an extra past it's the hour delivery estimated time so I called the restaurant and asked where our good was?
