"We had lunch at this restaurant based on a recommendation from the staff at the caravan site we were staying at near Axminster. It was such a fantastic experience that we decided to book again for Sunday lunch the following week. The food was delicious and we enjoyed it so much that we returned for a light lunch on our last day of the holiday. We dined outside on the terrace with views of the estuary on the warm days and inside in the front part of the restaurant for Sunday lunch. The staff were all friendly and welcoming. The food was some of the best we have had in years, even compared to top end restaurants we have visited. The warm goats cheese salad I had on the first visit was the tastiest and most original salad I have ever tasted. My wife said the belly of pork she had was amongst the best she had ever eaten. For Sunday lunch, we both had the lamb roast which was perfectly cooked and served with plenty of vegetables. On our final visit, my wife had an excellent fish pie and I had a starter size portion of the warm goats cheese salad again. Each meal was followed by a delicious homemade Dorset Apple cake with clotted cream, which was also exceptional. We can't wait to return to this amazing restaurant. This is a genuine six star review and we have no affiliation with the Ship in any way."

After seeking recommendations on local forums, we made a reservation for a party of 15 for Sunday lunch. The service we received was outstanding and the food was delicious. We had no complaints whatsoever.

Visited the Ship Inn with the family last night and was very impressed. Great food and service from the friendly and helpful staff. Was very busy but didn’t have to wait very long for our food. All 4 meals amazing and plenty of choice on the menu. Will definitely be back soon!

large food reasonable prices and large portions staff were amazing, especially pete and jo could not be enough for them and very dog friendly with staff and the customers are happy to see them, as well as the 2 pub dogs can not recommend it enough for dogs lovers and food lovers we definitely recommend again

I have just visited the ship inn with my family and our dog, and I can honestly say that not only we all gave such a cordial greeting to all workers, but eating was excellent, my girls said that there was the best pub menu they had ever had. I myself and family, and do not forget our dog, all recommend a visit in this wonderful pub. Ver carta

this was the first time that we visited this pub, it will certainly not be the last, the menu has for everyone something, many delicious appetizers the brie and white baits were very good and for the main course 2 of us had steak, 1 had steak and rasen and the other had fish cake, all were delicious, the desert menu also looked good, but we were full to try this. our waiter was really nice, friendly and helpful and the pub has a nice ambiente.

Cousin had been last year and rated the pub highly so she chose to book a table for us on our weekend break what a fabulous place we were welcomed warmly and the waiter kept us entertained and nothing was too much trouble (even me ! the food was outstanding for a local village pub we were all Impressed with our food choices The ship has a relaxed cosy inviting atmosphere serving great selection of food and beer the otter ale was fantastic !thank you for helping make our evening very memorable. Highly recommended.
