"Had a look through some of the lesser positive feedbacks and have to chuckle. Went there for lunch today. It's often very busy and you can't always get a table. The reason a place is busy is because it's good. No one queues for rubbish. Managed to get a table straightaway 11.48) . Pleasantly greeted and pointed to the table. How many places actually take your order nowadays. So refreshing. Order taken and a few minutes later our drinks arrived. No reading a menuboard under pressure. No stacking food on trays like a juggling act, sliding along a rail. No waiting for your drink while your dinner is slowly going cold only to find the person in front has ordered three frappecappychismolatteamerocanos with choc sprinkles and spacedust! I ordered the ploughman's. Three decent chunks of cheese, half baguette, apple, salad, pork pie slice, Coleslaw homemade) chutney, grapes, pickled onions and celery. All excellent except celery, which is spawn of the devil in my opinion) I love a ploughman's and this is right up there with the best. I wanted to try their cake but was too full, so we took a slice home for later. Malteser cake was lovely and obviously home made one slice more than enough for two unless you need your clothes to fit you better) Didn't need an evening meal I hasten to add. Great service, home made food, very reasonably priced. What else do you want? Thoroughly enjoyed it. Very rare nowadays . Thank you."

Exceptional food and service when a group of 14 had lunch. As always food super fresh and presented beautifully. Served quickly. Always consistent and high standard in all areas. Lovely relaxed atmosphere. Thank you so much.

Best cooked breakfast we’ve had in a long time, with good portion sizes and tasty produce. The service is friendly, you almost feel like part of the family with a warm welcome and nothing too much trouble. We took some delicious cakes away with us for later, do try the cheesecake! Ver carta

Spur of the moment visit on a rainy Saturday morning. We knew the place was there but had forgotten that it was indeed “something special”. Full English and Special Breakfast have the best local ingredients, cooked to perfection. Excellent service with a smile. Can’t ask for more! Can’t wait to try the afternoon tea…

This cafe is small and cozy, but not accommodating for those with dietary restrictions. Despite giving two months' notice that we needed dairy-free options, they were unable to provide anything suitable. The scones were undercooked, and the vegetarian and meat options were mixed up. I suggest checking out the local Morrisons for a better selection.

Absolutely fantastic afternoon tea. Without doubt the best in the area for afternoon tea . We went with the half sweet half savoury option which includes a huge piece of quiche and home made sausage roll. Plus all homemade mini cheesecakes, Victoria sandwich fresh cream cakes and lovely freshly made scones . Had to bring some home as couldnt manage it all .highly recommended Ver carta

We had the best in betweener afternoon tea today at Something Special Birchgrove treating 23 of my dear friends as a thank you for their support hosting dogs for my Barking Mad Dog home boarding business. Thanks to Sally, Carlos, Beth and their wonderful team. Delicious sandwich and cakes, hot drinks and seamless delivery. You deliver scrummy food and smiles for all. See you for another afternoon tea in 2 weeks for the rest of my lovely hosts

Arrived for lunch with my mum, got seated promptly by a very friendly, kind gentlemen. My mum had the brie and courgette soup which is an unusual combination I'd never heard of before, but my mum said it was absolutely outstanding I can also second this as I HAD to try it, so much better than your usual boring cream of tomato...the baguette that was served with it was also really fresh and soft. I had a boring cheese and tomato sandwich, which turned out to not be so boring, it was served with a lovely, generously sized salad garnish, optional salad dressing and crunchy crisps again bread was beautifully soft and fresh with fresh ingredients.
