"I had the best I ever had in hamburg. it was absolutely fantastic. the Spanish stair restaurant is a fusion of Spanish and medium east cuisine that is a fusion in the sky. from the fantastic shrimp in garlic chilli oil to the Argentine steak with an salate that is just a taste explosion. Black and green olives in a crimp dress were excellent. he was rounded by a heavy Spanish red, it was a dream. the highlight was the crema catalana. a beautiful vanilla cream with a hearty chest of caramelized sugar, complicated with a coffee and a lacquer. I'm a very fussy eater. I can't hurt or drink it. the people who work there earn a medaille to lead a marathon during the day with the workload of an overflowing restaurant. that shows how good it is, the atmosphere on the aster canal on a sunny august evening made this a very special memory overall. thanks to Spanish trappe."

directly at the water-poor of the former, it is the perfect place for a drink or tapas. they can almost touch the water. the service was exceptionally friendly, fast and attentive. also eating is not cheap, but has a good quality and a fair value for money. Ver carta

Located right next to the an water arm of the Alster it is the perfect spot to have a drink or some tapas. You can almost touch the water. Service was outstanding friendly, fast and attentive. Also the food is not cheap but has a...good quality and fair price/value ratio.

Went there on Friday with my girlfriend after some locals told us this would be a good place to go for some tapas and drinks. Location is very nice (this is the reason for giving two points). Everything else was poor the waiter mixed...up several items we ordered, tried to charge us for stuff we didn’t order. Wait time unacceptable long. Food... horribly bland: no spices, stale bread from the discount supermarket, patatas bravas without the customary spicy sauce... I could keep going but you get the idea. Place is ok for a glass of wine, nothing else.

The location of the restaurant is great, direct on the water, perfect for having a glass of wine on a sunny day. But the service is soooo sloooow! 20 minutes we waited for our drinks, then got the wrong ones, then we were told that...NONE of the wines we chose was available. So we settled for the only one they had. It took another 30 minutes till we got it. Then 45 minutes until the food came. By that time we already needed a refill.. We sat there overall for over three hours, mostly waiting. The location is nice so it didn't bother us THAT much, but next time we'll eat and drink before. It's a shame, could have been a 5 star place if the service was better. Ver carta

we visit regular hh and this place is (was our best place in the city. amazing view of the channel after aster, amazing tapas, beautiful cocktails and drink. a bit expensive, but I guess if you're overtaken, depends on the weather, they'll make profit. in short time. but this year we were disappointed. no or only very little garlic in the “Chiperonnese” or “Gambas”, while these are in the regular teller they kill to eat nut and vater. Cheese plate was ok (but no preparation there. apérol spray with more glittering water than usual, but this is not a cooking question. we hope that usually “Koch” was on holiday, and it will soon be back to usual standards because I back my chiperonnese and gam...

one of the worst foods ever order was placed around 19:45, the order would be delivered in 45 min. at 21:15 the restaurant calls that they have received the order 2 times (what happened with the first order and what the point is) of course. that was a big lie. it would take about 30 minutes more before they could deliver the order. to ask what can they do to make it good, because of the long waiting period. 1[Tapas vegetarian tapas] patatas Bravas€ 5,90 of parrots(not even close to simple wedges and very far from how they make it in spanies) bravas where old and tasteless 1[Porciones portion] dip plate€ 5,90 4 sauces, of which 3 of sauces were safe, where long over date 1[Tapas please stop s...

"There's always a question (in my mind, anyway) as to Michelin's accuracy/usefulness outside of France. In the US, it's not very helpful at all and in Europe ex-France, I've found it hit and miss. Haerlin represented only my second stab at a two-star in Germany and the first meal (Heinz Winkler), while a thoroughly wonderful overall experience, felt like the second star might have been a stretch. Not so at Haerlin, this was a two-star meal that stands fork-to-fork with any I can remember. The food is stylized to within an inch of its life, but close to flawless in both conception and execution. Outside of a large selection of generally unremarkable breads and a luke-warm roasted onion broth added to an amuse at table side that probably should have been hotter, the meal was simply one perfect dish after another. Maybe the sorbet intermezzo was a little old school in such a fashion forward meal, but - hey - it was delicious! Keep it.The room is suitably formal, luxurious in a traditional style, and quite comfortable. The pace of service might be a little leisurely for some (I ate alone and the four-course menu (seven + courses, including amuses, etc) pushed it a bit, stretching just over three hours. However, the friendly and attentive staff kept an eye out the entire time and stopped by if the time between courses presented the opportunity. The somm, in particular, was a great diversion, visiting from time to time to discuss the varied and interesting wines on offer. He provided useful insight into the outstanding selection of trocken Rieslings on the list. He guided me to a 2001 Burklin-Wolf GG that, at Eu 150, was both a great bottle of mature white and a tremendous value for a wine of this quality in this type of restaurant. (Good luck finding a white burgundy of this quality at this price at any multi-star restaurant - or at retail, for that matter.) He also suggested a wonderful German Pinot Noir by the glass that worked perfectly with the meat course and wasn't terribly expensive. The list is extensive, but not the tome you see at some restaurants, but don't be fooled - wine service at Haerlin is both a major plus and represents notable value in the context of multi-star restaurants.I'm not going to argue two-star vs three-star because that distinction often seems to be kind of mysterious (and tangentially related to the food), but I will say that this place certainly deserves two stars. I had just a flat-out great meal. If you can work in a visit, Haerlin should be high on your list."
