"The welcome arms of a local village pub with the benefit of fine dining, a roaring fire and a fun and friendly atmosphere. Despite it being moderately busy and us not booking in advance. We were treated so well, in fact we felt like old...friends, and it put us at ease, it was like you had walked into your own local. Our waitress went out of her way to ensure we had everything we needed to make our dining experience a great one, a great fun member of staff, with a genuine love for her job that was obvious to all, nothing was to much trouble and her energy was refreshing, she put a smile on our faces and had us giggling all evening we wanted her to join us! her name was either Andrea, or Angela I could kick myself for not being able to recall) The food was absolutely lovely, we had intended on a light dinner but by the time our waitress had finished with us we had sampled the desserts too and she was not wrong they really were to die for Overall if your looking for great food, outstanding service with a huge smile and a warm and welcome atmosphere then this establishment takes some beating! Well done We will be back."

Decided to go here last minute when my wife fancied a Sunday roast. The food was fabulous, best toast potato’s I’ve had a longtime. Staff are lovely and friendly. We loved it so much we booked for Mother’s Day!

The dining experience at this restaurant was fantastic. The beer was good, but what really stood out was the outstanding service from the bartender Angela. She was funny, polite, and truly amazing. I felt welcomed as soon as I entered the pub and I will definitely be returning soon.

Went here for the first time to have lunch, food was okay but nothing special. Service was so slow, we were there for over 3 hours! Staff seemed to serve the regulars first and prioritise them even though they came in hours after us, we...were the last to leave!!! Nobody was even apologetic towards us. Definitely won't be going back! Ver carta

We came across this lovely pub totally by chance after a dog walk in the area. We hadn’t booked a table but they accommodated us and were dog friendly. Absolutely fabulous food. We had calamari and garlic ciabatta to start and then the salmon, pork...belly and bread and butter pudding. Everything was really delicious and service was excellent. Such a pleasant surprise and would definitely come back!

another super lunch in this friendly pub. they offer a nice mixed menu and the food is all freshly prepared and very cheap trips. they change the menu selection regularly so that it always try something new. Today I had a chicken caesar and it was probably the best I had anywhere. absolutely delicious! can't judge this pub high enough and had no bad meal here ever! even if the sun shined today, they had a nice real fire to warm the pub inside and it felt cozy and welcoming. Many thanks for another visit.

My partner and I stayed in the area for the weekend on vacation and decided to book a table at The Squire and Horse for dinner. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, our evening here was absolutely perfect. The staff were welcoming, the service was quick, and the wine was excellent. The restaurant itself is stunning with a cozy and relaxed atmosphere. Our waitress was friendly, helpful, and attentive - it was truly amazing! This was perhaps one of the best meals I have ever had. We didn't feel rushed at all, we just savored the evening and truly enjoyed our vacation. Thank you. Ver carta

I was really looking forward to eating here. Many of my colleagues raved about it. My starter was battered tiger prawns with a ginger sauce. The batter was just too much. The first bite was pure batter, no prawn. The batter was also rather oily....The main course was a bacon cheese burger. While many like a pink middle of burger meat, I'm not impressed by it, preferring a burger cooked through. The dessert was a pavlova. While nice and fruity it was overly sweet. With the windows ope, because of COVID, we has the displease of listening to motorcyclists roaring up the hill at speed around 50 mph. Very loud. Overall I was disappointed and would not go out of my way to eat there again.

Four of us went for lunch on 24/3/22 and enjoyed a fantastic meal. I had whitebait, while the others had squid. For mains, three of us had Duck breasts and I had fish and chips, which was cooked perfectly. The Duck was also excellent according to my friends. For dessert, I had whiskey crunch, my wife had crème brûlée, and the other two had divine desserts. The staff were friendly, happy, and hard-working, catering to a busy crowd. I managed to secure the last booking for Mother's Day on 27th March and we were welcomed warmly. We had a variety of roasts - Beef, Pork, and Turkey - and the portions were generous. The food was outstanding, with tender meat and delicious roasties. I highly recomm...

"Well, it 's been a while since I 've reviewed a place but this little gem has certainly reawakened my vigour for it. Visited this evening as a kind of belated birthday celebration with my husband and son and very glad we did indeed. We happened upon this place a few weeks back (passing by and grabbing a cocktail after the days plans fell through and instantly took to the place and it 's wonderful staff and from the off had intentions to visit again an so finally did tonight), within seconds of seating ourself at the bar we were remembered by the owners, which to me shows great calibre on the customer service front. As someone with an exceptionally sweet tooth when it comes to alcohol it was our lucky day to find they had cocktails on 2for£10 and hell can the owner Jo mix like a minx (even doing us an off menu blend to account for tastes). The husband not being a big drinker happily sat at the bar chatting with staff and customers nursing his Peroni whilst me and my son dived headlong into the extensive classical and modern mixed cocktail list. Having been lured into great expectations (previously sampling delicious tasters) from Jo 's lovely husband Dave on our first brief visit we were definitely eagerly placed to dive into dinner tonight. Our lovely waitress Sian, stood patiently while we chopped and changed idea 's and orders, laughed with us, checked regularly everything was to our tastes as did the other young waitress that dropped drinks over to us. Both girls portraying the perfect mix of friendly and professional, a refreshing change to be served by people that clearly enjoy their working environment. And on to the food... we started with olives (and boy was it a substantial portion in comparison with some establishments weak efforts), hubby was first in there, impressed with the quality of marinade (too many places these days forget the little efforts like this thinking folk can 't differentiate something tipped out of a supermarket packet). After much debate (I had my eye on far too many dishes) choices were made, Hubby had the Filo Kefta, which had a light pastry, adequate spice and smoothly complimentary dip, for main he went with the day 's Special of Lamb with fondant potato, heritage carrots and a divinely velvety Jus which he thoroughly enjoyed (and he 's hard to please, being well versed himself and making a point of getting the lovely Chef Darren a glass of wine in appreciation). The lad had a Sirloin steak burger cooked medium rare and is now demanding we visit again soon. lol I went with the Gravlax to start, instantly aware of the clean flavour from its curing cutting through (I even brought a titbit home for my kitty to enjoy), as for main, I 'd initially had my mind on fish but upon discovering the owner Jo was also a blue steak lover I had to try one there and wow they really take care in choosing their suppliers because that was an A grade cut of meat, even my son (who prefers medium-rare) upon trying a slice said it was an exceptional piece of meat I had it with asparagus, no sauce and swapped out the chips for a feta/pepper bowl which worked perfectly as did the glass of Shiraz that Jo picked out to compliment it for me. Genuinely I can not pick fault (read through my other reviews I write honestly, pick fault where warranted and compliment where due). Had this lovely little find been in our usual local it would surely become a regular haunt ours for sure. I would 100% recommend this place and extend our gratitude to all the staff for making our entire visit memorable and perfect."

"We were in Bury for a few days visiting family and the weather was beautiful , we live on the Wirral and frequently visit Brasco lounge in Liverpool of the same chain , which we love. We actually visited Racconto lounge 3 times on our visit , first time we had a brunch of bacon and egg muffin , which we really enjoyed (although the bacon was very salty) The next day we came back and had a lounge breakfast , and the following day we brought my husbands mum , and drank cups of tea while resting from shopping . We enjoyed all the meals , and its lovely inside , although we ate on the terrace in the sunshine and we found all the staff very pleasant and friendly . But..... we had 2 things let it down for us . Firstly on each occasion , the service was extremely slow, when we had breakfast , it wasn't very busy , but we waited ages , although our tea was brought out well before the food , meaning we then had no drinks to go with the food . The second problem was , after waiting ages , we had to send the breakfast back as it was really cold , and it seemed like it had been sat waiting , almost as long as we had , the bacon on both the breakfast muffin and the breakfast was really , really salty also. None of this would put us off , as we enjoyed the dining experience overall , but if you are in a rush , i really wouldn't recommend eating here , as the wait was alot longer than expected every time ."
