"This has to be the worst garden tea shop I have ever had the misfortune to go to. Staff rude. One of the managers shouted at a colleague in front of us. Orders over an app only which crashes out due to poor signal Guest wifi password needed and not supplied When you tell them you can't order using app as it says site unavailable, I was told I must have entered something incorrectly. I was then told someone would take my order 15 minutes later they remembered. In the meantime, a waiter helped me and told me yes they were having problems with it, but it's not their fault? whose is it? Order took 20 minutes to get to us. Was left waiting on counter to get cold for 10. They remade it and got both orders wrong. How can you get two teas and two scones wrong? They managed it. Tea was weak. Scones were good but an expensive outing for one so unpleasant. I won't be back ... rude, unpleasant, not apologetic, dreadful attitudes. Avoid at all costs. Rather go to Wisley a much more pleasant experience."

Just had excellent fish and chips for lunch. Great value offer at £10 for main meal and drink. Staff were brilliant and very caring with us and other customers. Special thanks to Jane!

I have been a customer of Squires for many years. I used to frequent Garsons on my way home from work, but I have noticed that things are not up to par lately. The plants have been very dry during my last two visits.

This used to be a lovely place for a coffee and sandwich. Visited with my mother yesterday, poor choice of snacks/light bites. Prices are expensive. Lacked atmosphere. We won't be returning. Just one positive scones were very nice!

With only 5 staff on duty, all helped make our regular coffee/breakfast outing a relaxing and happy experience. Three friends attending for the first time and with 9 in total today, we were spread across two pre booked tables, and a great time had by all. Thank you see you next week! Ver carta

We call in every month when visiting Esher and always enjoy a light lunch. The coffee is pretty good and the soup is really excellent. Sandwiches are good and although we don’t often try the main courses they look good too. We always reserve a table online just in case it is busy and although service can be a shade slow at times we’ve found it friendly and efficient. Worth a visit for sure.

Covid aware! Samantha S lovely lady, lovely nature. Ordered a breakfast six items. DELICIOUS. The food was brought to the table on a trolley. Napkins, cutlery, salt and pepper. How safe as reassuring. Such a treat from our last visit. Tables were cleaned as soon as customers left, Yes it was not busy but you were aware this place was looking after us. AND the loos have been upgraded. Lovely place to visit.

I had a terrible experience at this restaurant. I took my mother and mother-in-law for lunch, and we were rushed to order. The scones we ordered fell apart as soon as we tried to cut them, making it impossible to put jam on them. The coffee came in takeaway cups without any explanation, even though we were dining inside. The tables were covered in dirty plates, despite there being 4 staff members and only 5 tables of customers. I won't be returning anytime soon. Ver carta

Sadly the quality of the food not as good as it was. They were very busy, and the bacon came out rock hard and cool. It had obviously been under the hot plate or in the oven too long. Left it on the plate and the waitress said that she would inform the chef. Complained later as they were rushed off their feet. Emailed the manager and had a chat and she said I should have told them which I did and that it was a one off experience, which it wasn't. Reality of it is that it is not as good as it was, and I and my friends will not be eating there again and we were regulars there at least 3 times a week.

If you remember the type of food served on a ferry crossing in the 1970s, this restaurant is similar to that. It is extremely disappointing, highly overpriced, and serves very small portions (not that you would want more of this low-quality food). I do not understand why a reputable business like Squires, known for their excellent garden center, would associate their name with this restaurant. It is clear that cost-cutting measures are evident throughout, from the fake flowers on the tables (which is odd in a garden center) to the portion sizes, like a prawn salad with only a couple of prawns and two cherry tomatoes served on a saucer. The whole experience is pathetic and depressing. I only...

"Obon: a petit Japanese udon restaurant that supplies a sense of Japan that cannot be found anywhere else in the whole of the Uk. (5 stars) Location: Obon is located close to the heart of Kingston but the road it’s on is considerably quieter. You must make sure to have a basic knowledge of Kingston in order to find an area to park and to also make sure you leave yourself enough time, taking the unpredictability of the traffic into acount. Even on a week day there can be traffic jams which can put a halt to your plans and due to the small amount of customers Obon can take its important that you not only book but make sure that you arrive at the agreed booking time. With this being said the staff are all lovely so if you are running late, a quick call is all that is required to just give Obon a chance to understand your position. The food: The array of exquisitely prepared sashimi will be sure to create the sensation that you are in a top Japanese restaurant in japan and the flavour of the fish does not fail to match expectations, which will be very high after just one glance at your meal. The fish is delicately seasoned and practically melts on your tongue, this causes a lovely sensation and is genuinely the finest sushi I have tasted in the uk and even matches a lot of the top restaurants in japan. On top of just the traditional types of sushi, which to many is maki rolls Obon also offers many other delicious options such as soft shell crab and even Unagi don, which I must highly recommend due to it consistently being the highlight of my meal. For those of you that were interested in the quality of the basic Japanese dishes such as miso soup or edamame they do not fail to leave you in grand anticipation for what is to come for they are, simply speaking, incredibly good. The miso, in my opinion, is truly remarkable and creates a lasting feeling of warmth throughout your entire body, on top of that it is far superior to other miso’s that I have tasted in all other areas of the world. Overall the quality of the food is something you would expect from a world famous Michelin star restaurant and if you want Japanese food it’s the only place I can recommend. The Restaurant: The restaurant itself is small but authentic in nature and because it only has a enough tables to host around 20 people at the most, the service is exceptionally good and your food is always out quickly so you will not be left hungry for very long. The staff are kind and friendly. And it’s always an enjoyable experience being waves goodbye as you leave the restaurant. You’re also able to watch as they prepare the food, which for some could be entertaining. There are Japanese photos scattered around the room and this further creates an authentic feel. The atmosphere is not lively but it is a restaurant and not a bar so is an ideal location if you are wanting high quality food. With this being said it is still a great place to go with friends and I consistently am able to have a great time no matter the occasion. Price: Obviously, the price of the food is always an important topic to come to and despite the cost of the sushi being slightly higher than you may expect from a small restaurant in Kingston, I would have to say that for the quality of the food it is ultimately a bargain. For three people, you would be spending around £100 so it isn’t cheap but you can go for cheaper types of food such as udon, which is still amazing quality and won’t set you back as much money. Overall: Obon is still my favourite restaurant in the whole of the Uk and is perfect for a special occasion but it isn’t the sort of place you’d go for a casual night out. The food is beyond incredible and thus they can cater for both children and adults by meeting every bodies needs. For anybody that enjoys sushi, I would urge you to give it a go, you won’t regret it"
