"Perhaps the best indicator of the state of this place is a comparison with the excellent Preston, just yards down the road. We wanted an early pint and Preston was full unsurprisingly because it’s warm, welcoming and clean with lovely staff and great...beer. Having not been into the Stew and Oyster for a while, we thought we’d give it a try. It was maybe a quarter full. It was unwelcoming, with dirty glasses littering empty tables. All the surfaces felt sticky and unwashed in a while and the whole place just felt dirty. The beer selection is great if you like mass produced keg beer. It seems the artisan beer revolution has passed the S+O by. There were a couple of hand pumped ales but no indicator of what they were, unlike the informative chalk board in Preston. The acoustics are horrible, lots of cavernous empty space which allowed the screaming child downstairs to be heard in great detail through the whole pub as the sound bounced off the empty, unadorned walls. This place could be good if only somebody would put a bit of effort into decor, cleaning and beer selection. They should take a leaf out of Preston’s book and ask themselves why one place is packed and popular and the other isn’t."

Lovely food and lovely staff. I would suggest that the portion sizes could be increased but that aside, it was superb!

Having come to the quiz in a timely fashion last night, I'd not had the chance to eat anything before the evening's antics.

As a bar that has such a fantastic and varied beer and nut selection, I'm never going to get over the apple drink thing; which is to say that the place is

I came here to work one afternoon last week, as a change of scenery from working from home for the past months. Felt very safe (covid measures) and was really well looked after. Spacious, good coffee and fast wifi. Didn't eat but drinks were...ordered and served at my table quickly and by friendly staff, highly recommend.

Just called in for a drink and that isn't as easy as it should be in most places. We struggled to get in anywhere but here we could just sit down and order a drink and pay the friendly welcoming staff. No downloading apps which...turn out not to work, great work by the staff here. Well done Stew and Oyster, goes to prove it can be done.

Had a couple of pints here the other night with my mate. It has a small, but pleasant enough outdoor seating area. Camden Pale was a pint. Reasonable service, with staff bringing the drinks out, and wearing masks. Card only, which is annoying. Interior...is fairly spacious. Toilets are upstairs. The Gents' toilet was out of order. Broken toilet seat in the Ladies'. Vegan options on the menu.

Visited on late Saturday afternoon into the early evening. Rosie and her colleague were visibly hard working keeping tables and chairs clean, whilst serving drinks punctually with a happy, friendly approach to boot. Can't fault this little local bar in such difficult times being so...safely organised whilst staff still providing a good outdoor atmosphere. Great Camden beers too!! Well done Stew Oyster!!

"My son expressed his desire for a restaurant that wasn't too fancy or too casual. It's always a challenge to gather grown-up sons for celebrations when they are spread out, especially when you're unfamiliar with the restaurants in Leeds. After scrolling for hours and exchanging options, we finally settled on Gallery 41, which happened to have a 20% off deal on all food for certain days in November - perfect for N's birthday. After a long journey and a chilly afternoon at Kirkstall Abbey, we were ready to eat, and boy, did we eat well. The olives were a hit with my sons and husband, while the garlic bread was described as some of the best they'd ever had. The Skin Fries were a crowd favorite, so much so that we almost fought over the last ones. The main dishes were equally impressive, with the meat eaters raving about the Spiced Pepperoni and the Vegetarian option wowing my husband. I couldn't resist the Florentina pizza, a personal favorite of mine. Dessert was a hit as well, with everyone indulging in their sweet tooth. The atmosphere at Gallery 41 was perfect for our family gathering - quiet, cozy, and conducive to good conversation. The staff were attentive and friendly, adding to the overall positive experience. I look forward to returning with the rest of my family and indulging in more of Gallery 41's delicious offerings. In the end, it's the simple things like family, good food, and quality time together that truly matter. Thank you, Gallery 41, for a wonderful dining experience."
