"I really love this restaurant, but I had a bit of a disappointing experience due to the new manager. My parents have been regulars here for years, and I've been coming since I was born! I went there over the weekend to celebrate my 21st birthday with a group of about ten people. My boyfriend, brother, and I arrived just five minutes late. When we got there, the manager—a blonde woman I had never seen before—was being rude to my mom, insisting that we needed to start ordering. We hadn’t realized we were behind schedule since my mom had arrived early and was enjoying drinks with other family members. The restaurant wasn’t even busy, so I’m not sure why she was being so uptight. Fortunately, she didn’t come back to our table after that, and I'm grateful for it; I couldn't have handled her negativity on my special day! On the bright side, all the waitstaff were wonderful and genuinely cheerful, which really enhanced the experience. The food is always amazing here—I can't get enough of it! So overall, it was a lovely evening, aside from that overbearing new manager."

"Gurkha Village is a well-established restaurant located very close to Oxford. The staff is respectful and attentive to customers' needs, and the service time is excellent. Although the food may not be traditionally Nepali, as it includes more than just the typical Dhal, Bhat, and Takari, the meals are generally very good with generous portions. Most of the dishes were of good quality, except for the Nan bread. It would be nice to see some new menu options and daily specials added to enhance the dining experience. Overall, Gurkha Village is a standout Indian restaurant in the Oxford area that is definitely worth a visit. Thank you."

"Lovely pub and good food. Issue with two of party not receiving main meal till 10 -15 mins after the rest they had been delivered to wrong table. Had to ask 3 times what was happening and no real apology. A small offer of recompense free pudding or coffee for example) to two people affected would of been nice. Puddings a bit over fussy but generally a very good Sunday lunch."

"My other half and I had an evening meal here, which was simply the best meal out we’ve had in a long, long time. My OH had a chicken satay starter fabulous. Not too sweet, had real live bits of peanut in the sauce, and came accompanied by cucumber and salad. For mains, I had flat iron steak with pepper sauce, peppers, courgette, roast garlic and perfect chunky chips (think that was it). It was cooked to perfection and such a relief to find a pub that doesn’t roll out an overcooked steak with the ubiquitous onion rings, half a tomato, mushroom/s and skinny chips. The OH had salmon, which came with crushed new potatoes and lots of nice veg none of which he can remember this morning. Hey ho. Dessert for each of us was a pavlova with whipped cream, zingy lemon curd, raspberries and strawberries. This was just as fabulous as everything else. So impressed. Every dish was artfully presented, the flavours considered and the cooking absolutely spot on. Not a soggy vegetable in sight. Lovely people, too, our waiter was a smiley gentleman from Turkey and the chef and (we believe, although this is an assumption) his wife, who incidentally brought the food out themselves (nice touch), were Kiwis. Altogether a lovely experience and one that I recommend wholeheartedly to others."

"Looking for somewhere for a pitstop to break up a 160 mile journey home, not wanting to run the gauntlet of motorway services, our 3rd attempt was the Red Lion and boy oh boy was it 3rd time lucky!!! We both ordered a chicken korma. It arrived quickly and was huge. It was made fresh to order and quite possibly 1 of the best curries I have ever had. The staff were friendly and very welcoming. I would 100% recommend eating here though if it was local to me I would definitely need bigger jeans!!!!! Thankyou everyone for a wonderful meal and warm welcome. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5"

"I had a great experience at this restaurant. The staff were very patient and accommodating, even with my silly questions. The food was delicious and made to order. The relaxed atmosphere and family-friendly environment make it perfect for group gatherings. I will definitely be coming back, especially to try their Sunday roast lunch. The vegetarian options were tasty and filling. The chef was also willing to accommodate any dietary restrictions. It's recommended to inform them in advance to avoid any delays. The restaurant is conveniently located off the main road next to the Oxford Canal, and they offer kids' seating as well."
