I can fully recommend that place. They do such an effort with food, design and service. The interior design and the attention to detail with their quality furniture (outdoors and indoors) is stunning. I didn't expect this at all form such a restaurant on the country side. The interior design of this restaurant seems like you're sitting in a state of the art hospitality place somewhere in NYC. The food is delicious and their rather small menu speaks for quality. I have never been disappointed. Their waiter (we had that blonde, tall German lady) is the best and loveliest waiter I've ever had. Such a high attention to detail and barely any need to ask her for stuff. She understands everything and proactively brings new water, bread, wine etc. She has such a high level of empathy and understanding of her guest. Wine: their wine list is huge and you'll be able to find some great rare bottles. As an appetizer I highly recommend to take their local champagne called Väterchen Frost. Such a great discovery! Locally produced and better than any French Champagne. The bar: Stat of the art! Stunning design, Sonne Seuzach owns an ice machine producing round clear ice. This is rare in Switzerland and surely a huge statement that they understand the bar scene of 2019. Innovative bar menu with great whiskey and gin selection. Negative Point: On Saturdays the have live music, which starts playing way too early and too loud. It's a bit of an awkward moment when you're sitting there with family and friends and expect to have some good talks. But then the live music starts to play that loud you have to scream at each other. I recommend to start with the live band later at night like 10:30 or 11pm. And not that loud please. Summary: Please keep up that high sense of quality, detail orientation and stunning food. A change in menu would't hurt either. I'm curious to see what kind of food-creations you're going to present. "As I often do, I just look on the internet on a Sunday to see which restaurant is open and so we drove from Lake Zurich to Winterthur and definitely had another very positive surprise in this restaurant! With another very friendly reservation, we drove there according to the navigation and until now I have never heard, seen or read anything about this restaurant or this area high above Winterthur and for that reason alone we were extremely surprised, even though the weather was bad. When we got there, we were immediately escorted to a beautiful table that was already quite impressive with a white tablecloth and cloth napkins, and when we were allowed to study the menu it was finally proven that there are still restaurants with Stihl and with a selection of what others have Restaurants can only dream! Of course we hadn't already eaten from the selection, but what we got was really of the highest quality, even though there were two souls in the background that were completely full and there wasn't a single table around us available and it was just then possible to bring this quality , was really surprising and extremely satisfactory and more than exemplary! "Ich war zunächst nicht sicher, worauf ich mich bei diesem neu geführten Betrieb einlassen würde und rechnete gerade anhand der Sommerferienzeit mit einem leeren praktisch Restaurant. Doch ich hatte mich getäuscht. Die gemütliche, unter Platanen gelegene Gartenwirtschaft war mitten unter der Woche am Abend voll mit Gästen belegt. Da ich nicht reserviert hatte, musste ich es eine Stunde später nochmals versuchen und hatte Glück: Ein Tisch war frei geworden. Der Frohsinn Elsau setzt ganz auf die kanadische Küche in der Schweiz für mich ein Novum, dessen Entdeckung sich im Nachhinein gelohnt hat. Da ich nicht so recht wusste, was ich probieren sollte, liess ich mich vom Chef de Service beraten und probierte als Vorspeise Nachos mit geschmolzenem Cheddar und verschiedenen Dips. Der erste Gruss aus der Küche machte mich neugierig auf die Hauptspeise, Spare Ribs nach kanadischer Art, die als Spezialität des Hauses empfohlen wurden. Man erhält eine Art schwarze Schiefersteinplatte, auf welcher die mit Ahornsirup und diversen Gewürzen lang marinierten Spare Ribs dem Gast präsentiert werden. Das Fleisch war unglaublich zart und das leicht nussige, honigartige Aroma des weit ins Fleisch einmarinierten Ahornsirups verbunden mit einer dezenten Note aus verschiedensten Gewürzen aller Welt empfand ich als eine sanfte Explosion der Geschmäcker und Düfte . Ganz grossartig! Beim Dessert setzte ich nochmals auf Hausgemachtes, und zwar auf das vom Gastgeber empfohlene Eis aus Ahornsirup mit selber gemachtem Caramellecroquant. Herrlich, wie der leicht knusprige Caramellecroquant mit der nussigen Note des Ahornsirupglacés im Munde zu einer Gesamtheit verschmelzen. Wie gut ist doch, dass ich auch hier auf das Hausgemachte gesetzt hatte und nicht auf die ebenfalls verfügbare Glacékarte mit den übrigen Eissorten der hierzulande bekannten Fabrikanten. Es war eine echte Erfrischung im Vergleich zu dem Industrie Einheitsbrei. Von mir aus darf der Frohsinn die Karte mit den handelsüblichen Eiscrèmes gleich ganz streichen und alles selber machen ich bin sicher, das würde ein Volltreffer. Insgesamt meine Note: Ganz grossartig! Ich wünsche dem Frohsinn Team alles Gute, und dass sie die Qualität halten können. Auch preislich hat es sich gelohnt, keine Diskussion wenn man vergleicht, was man in der Stadt Zürich für ein vergleichbares Menü bezahlen würde."

"The Bahnhöfli Oberi is my favorite restaurant in Winterthur. Since I (still) live on a subsistence level, I can rarely go out to eat, but when I do, it 's good. Mother invited me to dinner yesterday and so we were guests in the evening. Although it wasn 't our first time visiting the Bahnhöfli Oberi, we were impressed by the charm and of course the food again. I was very stressed in the afternoon and hadn 't eaten anything properly. But when we sat down under the cooling plane trees in the garden restaurant, which is very carefully and comfortably designed, and were served in a very friendly and attentive but yet uncomplicated manner, I felt really comfortable. The garden pub is wonderfully protected from heat and strong sunlight by a hedge and a shady cover of leaves from the plane trees.
