"Passing through Berwick and stopped for a late lunch. The first option I looked at on HappyCow had stopped serving food for lunch so we walked down the street and saw this place. Unassuming place but a good location. Wasn't sure what to expect but the owner assured us the vegetable burrito and taco options were vegan so we sat down and we both chose the large vegan burrito. Was a good portion and super tasty. Came with a side salad and small individual portions of guacamole and sauce (and sour cream, non-vegan). Highly recommended! Good value too and if you're there in the evening it's BYO. Saw that they do desserts too, although not sure if they were vegan or not"

The food was fantastic—fresh, delicious, and truly amazing! We were served a new chocolate chili sauce that paired perfectly with our enchiladas, and it was absolutely delightful! The value is excellent, and the owners are friendly and very helpful. If you're in the area, I highly recommend this place!

We got this as a takeout meal during the pandemic. The staff were really helpful and explained the vegan options. Also noted that we had a baby with us and modified the food not to include salt so baby could eat with us. We really enjoyed the food, couldn't fault it at all. Full of flavour and really big portions. The pineapple dip that was made fresh was amazing!

This restaurant is very welcoming and offers excellent vegan options. We shared the vegan enchilada and chimichanga, both made with fresh ingredients and packed with vegetables and beans. We also tried the cheese nachos, which were delicious, especially the melted cheese and dips. All the dishes were very flavorful and reasonably priced. While the decor might be a bit modern, I would definitely return.

In addition to the main dishes, we were treated to some sweets, and he showed us his collection of chili peppers (not the band!) and the Mexican oregano he uses. I had the nachos topped with vegan cheese, pineapple salsa, guacamole, chili, and jalapeños—super delicious and fully loaded! I also had a veggie burrito, which, as expected, was made without dairy cheese, and it was very filling alongside a small side salad. Again, it was delightful! We will definitely return during our next visit, as I can't wait to try the tacos! Ver carta

the staff was very friendly and courteous and told me they had vegan cheese, so most of the things could make vegan. eating was delicious and good. I had a vegan burrito and the 3 other veggies had veg tacos, veg burrito and veg quesadilla all were delicious. it was very quiet, which was a scandal and so lacked a little atmosphere, even the decor was quite functional ground. the chef came out at the end and showed us the huge selection of chillies they use! also they accept now card payments. updated by previous review on 2021 10 21

I went on a rainy evening so the place was quiet, but relieved a warm welcome. Vegan options advertised on the menu board outside, and the chef was very happy to chat about the options available and change things up as required. I had the veggie enchilada (the veggie items on the menu all seem to be easily veganisable by simply subbing the cheese for a vegan alternative), which was simple but satisfying and nicely warming which really hit the spot on a rainy evening. Owner was keen to learn more about Happy Cow and chat about vegan options etc. too. Updated from previous review on 2021-09-28

Wish we'd just made a meal in our holiday home. Despite sombreros on the wall I'm not sure this place knows what vegan food is. Apparently they don't do guacamole on a Saturday. They forgot my daughter's order. When it arrived it was a pile of crisps with supermarket vegan cheese, ie coconut oil, dumped on top. No salad, no salsa. When we queried this were told that's it. But next table got nachos with sour cream, veg, tomato salsa. And we got charged extra! Other meals were veggie burger, okay apparently. I had chilli sin carne, much like the sort of thing I can make at home. Over all I wouldn't recommend. Ver carta

"Absolutely terrible! We were partly to blame for not recognizing the warning signs and continuing to order at this 'restaurant', despite all indications that it would be a bad experience. Even the lady at the lovely B&B where we were staying tried to warn us. When we mentioned we had booked a table at the Queens Head for dinner, she looked surprised and mentioned that if we didn't like anything on the menu, they could always make us sausage and chips. That should have been warning sign number one! We had booked a table based on the promise of 'quality' food and a fine dining experience, but when we arrived, the waitress seemed uninterested, didn't acknowledge our booking, and didn't even ask for our name. She directed us to a table with a chair practically on top of a fire hydrant and asked if it would be suitable. Warning sign number two! The laminated menu on our table had photos of cheap 'sharing nibble plates' for £2.50, and the rest of the menu consisted mainly of dirty fries and nachos. Warning sign number three! The waitress was clueless about the menu and unhelpful when we asked questions. When we asked about the chicken curry, she simply said it was 'just chicken' and when asked about side dishes, she just said 'vegetables'. When we asked what kind of vegetables, she gave us a confused shrug and said, 'they are just vegetables!' Warning sign number four! The carrot and coriander soup was the best dish we had, but the Salmon and Dill Fish cake starter was obviously a cheap frozen fish cake fried to death with a grey, fishless middle. The Vegetable Curry was flavorless and served so hot it was almost boiling, with a side of dry white rice. The Chicken Breast was cooked decently but served on slightly raw potato stacks. Most of the food seemed reheated. To top it off, the prices were astronomical - £10.95 for the fish cake starter, £23.95 for the chicken, and £17.95 for the curry - all steep prices for such poor quality food. We didn't stay for dessert. The bill came to nearly £70 for 2 courses and 2 drinks, which was the final insult. Not one waitress checked on our food, and when I left half of my main course untouched, she abruptly asked if I was finished and cleared our plates. Don't be fooled by the website promising a top-quality experience - steer clear of this place."
