"We walked into the restaurant and asked for a table for 2. The waitress asked us to 'wait here' and then shouted from the other side of the restaurant to come and sit down. Not a warm Thai welcome that we had expected.Menus were placed on the table and there was no dialogue. Our order was taken as if we had offended someone - the waitress did not care to explain the platter but simple said its number 2, 4, 5 and 9 together. Later we asked for a wifi password as we could see the restaurant was listed under possible connections. One waitress just said 'I don't know the password' and walked away. The next one just belted out the password at us and walked away. The food was okay. Only the chicken was dry and cold but otherwise it was tasty. No one checked on our table, not that we expected it, but they missed out on making more money from us as we would have probably ordered more drinks and food. Not a single smile was seen from any of the staff even though they went to the trouble of wearing a nice uniform and had lovely hair and make up. Its the first time in a long time we did not leave a tip. We were not thanked nor farewellend and it really was the worst customer service experience!"

Very poor, unfriendly, inefficient and almost aggressive service, poor food. We had to wait more than 40 minutes ... It's a long time that we didn't had such a bad, disappointing experience.

Amazing location.Nothing special inside. Tasty food but I tried better ones. Was a warm welcome but we were waiting 1.5 hrs for our dishes for the company of 8 people. Would not go there again.

We'd been there in June 2016 and were very pleased - both with service an the food. But on last Saturday, 22. Oktober, my daughter and me made the contrary experience. The waitresses were very unfriendly and my duck breast filet was really chewy. So I won't give it one more chance. Ver carta

For starters, the online reservation worked. Good start! I wanted to try their satay but it was sold out, at the beginning of the evening. Bad planning. The springrolls were nice but had much better in other places. The maincourse, beef with garlic and thai herbs was very good. The waiting staff is reserved, not smiling, a bit arrogant even. But overall an ok dinner. Not good, not bad.

We ordered Green Thai curry, the dish was really good. The ambience of the place is great too. However, our experience was awful, we will never visit this place again. The staff is cold, the male staff greeted us well, however the female staff had a lot of attitude. We asked for water as the curry was way too spicy and she frowned as if we had asked for weed. Not recommended at all !! You can go if you want to get a feel of bad customer service.

the food was ok, the atmosphere lovely, but the 2 servers in an almost empty restaurant at lunch while not activelyhostile looked so angry and unhappy I was very sorry we didn't leave immediately after entering. Hadn't realized how difficult it would be to be either ignored or glared at for a (very short) meal, but we were and it was. Been to Thailand many times, and love the food and culture;this type of attitude is just so alien to everything that makes the country so appealing Ver carta

For almost two decades, Sala Thai used to be one of the best Thai restaurants in Hamburg. But in the recent years, cooks seem to have changed and the quality of food has deteriorated. So my wife and I have been looking for an alternative. We discovered Tai Tan. We visited several times. The food is good. Sadly, the service is bad. The waitresses make an impression of stern matrons in a Catholic boarding school. One also got a feeling the waitresses were not all too keen in taking orders.

Firstly, the food was absolutely fantastic and the staff were very friendly and extremely helpful with the menuUnfortunately, the speed of service was a big disappointment. We had a table of 4 booked at 19:00. We arrived on time and were promptly seated. It then took 40 minutes before we could even place a drinks order. Once ordered the waiting time to be served was also quite long (another 40 minutes between starters and main courses).I'm hoping this was a one off issue (was busy and not many staff there) and the food, as I said, was excellent. So I will give this restaurant another visit some time.

"There's always a question (in my mind, anyway) as to Michelin's accuracy/usefulness outside of France. In the US, it's not very helpful at all and in Europe ex-France, I've found it hit and miss. Haerlin represented only my second stab at a two-star in Germany and the first meal (Heinz Winkler), while a thoroughly wonderful overall experience, felt like the second star might have been a stretch. Not so at Haerlin, this was a two-star meal that stands fork-to-fork with any I can remember. The food is stylized to within an inch of its life, but close to flawless in both conception and execution. Outside of a large selection of generally unremarkable breads and a luke-warm roasted onion broth added to an amuse at table side that probably should have been hotter, the meal was simply one perfect dish after another. Maybe the sorbet intermezzo was a little old school in such a fashion forward meal, but - hey - it was delicious! Keep it.The room is suitably formal, luxurious in a traditional style, and quite comfortable. The pace of service might be a little leisurely for some (I ate alone and the four-course menu (seven + courses, including amuses, etc) pushed it a bit, stretching just over three hours. However, the friendly and attentive staff kept an eye out the entire time and stopped by if the time between courses presented the opportunity. The somm, in particular, was a great diversion, visiting from time to time to discuss the varied and interesting wines on offer. He provided useful insight into the outstanding selection of trocken Rieslings on the list. He guided me to a 2001 Burklin-Wolf GG that, at Eu 150, was both a great bottle of mature white and a tremendous value for a wine of this quality in this type of restaurant. (Good luck finding a white burgundy of this quality at this price at any multi-star restaurant - or at retail, for that matter.) He also suggested a wonderful German Pinot Noir by the glass that worked perfectly with the meat course and wasn't terribly expensive. The list is extensive, but not the tome you see at some restaurants, but don't be fooled - wine service at Haerlin is both a major plus and represents notable value in the context of multi-star restaurants.I'm not going to argue two-star vs three-star because that distinction often seems to be kind of mysterious (and tangentially related to the food), but I will say that this place certainly deserves two stars. I had just a flat-out great meal. If you can work in a visit, Haerlin should be high on your list."
