Tantine Et Tonton - Carta

We had booked a month in advance but were sat right next to an electric box outside....it was my birthday so felt uncomfortable in complaining .We sat for 25minutes until a waiter came to take our order .it became clear that they were over booked and couldn't cope.We won't go again .

This is the best place in Limoux for lunch, in my view. Although more expensive than the restaurants on the main square, the food is beautifully presented and generally very good indeed. What brings it down? Two things - one is the very surly waiter, whose manner is a complete contrast to all the other staff and the other is the cheeky pricing policy of the menu, which contains several items with a supplément, often quite a hefty one.

The food here is excellent, wine selection also very good - all extremely reasonably priced. The location and setting are great including secluded patio for outdoor dining. This is potentially a fantastic restaurant.However the place is let down by very poor front of house which was inattentive, lacking warmth and contributed to a lack of atmosphere overall. Not surprising then to see the place half empty on a Friday night before Christmas. I rarely write a review here, but just felt this delicious food and setting deserves better! Ver carta

We had previously eaten at Tantine et Tonton when the restaurant was located on the edge of town, and were impressed both by the food and the warm welcome offered by the staff. The food is still inventive, well presented and generally good, and the restaurant terrace is a pleasant place to sit. It is let down by the indifferent service. The waiter was clearly unimpressed by the fact that we did not want to order any alcohol and, when we asked for a carafe of water, he brought one that had not been chilled. The service remained perfunctory throughout the meal.

We have eaten a number of times, more by necessity, than choice. Food can be good though very erratic. In contrast, the service is absolutely deplorable. Wine is often forgotten. Bread is sometimes provided at the end of the meal. Sauces are generously provided after the dish has been consumed. There is no oversight of the dining room as the "head waiter" spends his time staring out the window or the front door ignoring the tables. And to top it off, the chef has no interest in feedback from customers or for that matter whether they like or not what has been served.

Lunched there today with my wife and had both had a perfect lunch from the €25 brasserie menu. The courtyard surroundings and the service were excellent. We both chose the Auberine confit with Boudin Noir and Parmesan as a starter and the Hake with Piperade pasta and Chorizo as a main. Both dishes were beautiful with a perfect balance of flavours. Our desserts were the Crémeux chocolat noir, éclat de meringues, chantilly au café blanc and the Moelleux ananas, crème fouettée vanille, sorbet. Both were a perfect end to the meal. The wine recommended by the waiter was a perfect accompaniment to the meal. Ver carta

the hotel entrance at the main square of Limoux was traditional and elegant. we have sunk in the courtyard, which was such a beautiful outside space protected by the sun. we chose from the three set curs formula and were not disappointed. courgette bavoir with. canapes for me and a flat shell for my man to begin, we then chose both the fish of the day, delicious marina with a cesciful sauce and buzz. the bratfigs, honey and ice to finish was so delicious, and so reasonable at everyone. as with many set menus are prepared only for relatiw expensive drinks that an inclusive wein and coffee set menu deal is most sensible. all in all a weed!

After a very disappointing visit to the former location in limoux we decided to give tantine et tonton another chance, and it was a wonderful surprise that the restaurant has made a wonderful comeback in all aspekten. now located in the hotel modern et pigeon., in the center of limoux we enjoyed a great lunch. we were seven and had so on all the options of the menu and we all loved it. not a weak point, wonderfully presented, high-quality ingredients and a very sympathetic staff that has done everything to make this lunch an unforgettable event. we will definitely come back because this restaurant is absolutely our favorite in the limoux area.

I would like to reinforce the comments made by the previous reviewer. It is a great shame that one of the restaurants offering better food in Limoux has such a poor front of house. Whatever the quality of the cuisine, we would certainly be unable to recommend Tantine because of the unfriendly and unhelpful attitude of the maitre d.' In this case we did all we could to minimise any embarrassment on the part of the restaurant by avoiding direct reference to the unpleasant smell in the courtyard by simply requesting a move to the interior room of the restaurant. Perhaps we should have been more explicit, but I very much doubt that the response would have been any better. Ver carta
