"We were extremely pleased when we left this restaurant. We have been to Thailand and one of the reasons is our love for Thai food. We were in Mile and a Third and originally planned to have Italian food, but the restaurant was closed for the holidays. The friendly bartender recommended this place to us and we were delighted. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere, comfortable seating, and the staff were genuinely friendly. Despite not being able to drink alcohol at the moment, I requested tap water and was promptly provided with a glass of ice and a jug of water. My wife enjoyed a glass of wine which was reasonably priced. The food was absolutely amazing, some of the best Thai cuisine we have had in the UK. We started with a mixed vegetarian platter to share, followed by two of the specials which were different sea bass dishes, both delicious. We also had two side dishes of vegetables, including morning glory with spring onions, which was delightful. The portions were generous and we also shared a pad mee for some carbs. We enjoyed every dish, although it's worth noting that the starter is fried and may not be to everyone's liking. We are looking forward to returning to this restaurant as soon as possible. The meal for two cost just under £90, but was worth every penny."

Service excellent food very original thai wife said just like home! Liked that plates were warmed. Only objection like a lot of other restaurants they add service charge 10% which i feel should be down to customer

Had a great meal. It was my birthday and the food was really very good. It looked like I had not eaten in a month, given the amount of food I took. Everything is delicious and the staff is always nice to customers. Ver carta

What a fabulous meal mixed starter followed by Pa Naeng Chicken Curry. Marvellous best Thai by far. Decor was lovely, staff very friendly. Whenever we're in Southend we will definitely eat there again. Just sorry we live 90 miles away

The service at this restaurant is very disappointing. I submitted a review that was not published. The staff does not know how to treat their customers properly. They are overly friendly with white customers but completely different with people of color.

As I travel for work all across the country, I make it a point to try Thai food in every city I visit. I always order the same dish for a fair comparison, and I must say that Tara Thai is one of the best I’ve ever had! The service was excellent, with the server even remembering me from a previous visit. If you enjoy Thai cuisine, Tara Thai is a must-visit. Enjoy! Ver carta

Ordered a take away from here tonight via just eat. It was very tasty, but quite expensive and disappointingly no left overs for tomorrow! My husband had some ribs (See Krong Moon) which had a nice sour sauce. They were short ribs. I ordered duck pancakes which were tasty. and finally a Kratiem Prik Thai (Prawn). Portions were average so at nearly £40 I did think it was overpriced. And although very good I didn't think the quality and price correlated unfortunately.

We ordered a takeaway from here last night for my Son's 21st birthday for up to 20 people I spoke to a lovely lady called Koy who when I told her the kind of dishes we wanted, she then made suggestions and calculated how much we needed etc so the whole process was actually pretty quick as we wanted starters, mains, sides rice/veg/noodles etc. Delivery was arranged for me and I received a callback to confirm the address etc. The food was incredible, I would say the highlights that everyone is still talking about is the Talapia Fish, the Tom Kah Soup and the Laab but we still have a huge amount left so everybody is coming back tonight to finish it off.
