"We have eaten many times at the Terrace since it opened and it seems to be sliding down on each visit. When it first opened we enjoyed the tapas style. We also eat out 2/3 times each week in top class restaurants but when visiting the NT it is easier to eat on site. The bread is poor, they defiantly need to change their supplier. The olive dip with dry crackers and breadsticks was horrible. The hot food came cold and we did not even try a fish dish on this occasion as they were so disappointing last time. We paid £65 and concluded that we would only order a glass of wine and the cheese platter if we find ourselves here again but suspect next time we will bring a sandwich to eat in the foyer."

A wonderful meal in a spectacular setting. Fantastic concoctions and a take on tapas everyone should try.

I have been dining at this restaurant's terrace for a while now, but I have noticed a decline in the menu quality lately. It seems like nuts are included in almost every dish on the menu. Ver carta

Great choice of little plates , ideal for the theatres and concert hall in the surroundings. Very speedy service when you mention you are going to a show. A bit hidden on the second floor , so not much of a view there.

The location was fantastic. The food and service were also excellent. We wanted to dine outside on one of the warmest days of the year. I had several questions about seating outside, but it was hard to reach someone to confirm. I left multiple voicemails and emails before finally getting a response.

The Terrace is a great choice for a pre-theatre meal. Their small sharing plates make it convenient to have a snack or a full meal. Our group of four shared about 10 dishes, which was the perfect amount before the show. The dishes were all unique and our waiter was helpful in recommending ones to try. The service was excellent. Very good value and good food, but disappointing ambience, service and general feeling of haste. Allergy and nutritional requirements have been taken into account and marked on the menu that was great, but then not observed when food was served and the staff did not seem to care because it soon closed. Should it make it clear that it closes at 7.30.

Fantastic option for a pretheatre supper or just a friendly natter/catch-up. Great service and easy going environment with great acoustics in favour of the private conversation and not the clamour of the restaurant yet there is a buzz, and it’s reasonably priced, quick and yet relaxed. Almost nowhere meets these apparently contradictory pair of criteria -we all agreed we are going to use regularly. NB opening times mean at least Monday to Wednesday kitchen closes 7.30pm, be aware as by 8.30pm all over!

"Went for afternoon tea with my wife, using an 'experience ' voucher from a well known site, costing £35.99 absolute disaster! The description said 'sit down in the sophisticated dining room and tuck into a section of finger sandwiches, tantalising cakes, pastries, macarons and scones with clotted cream and jam. You won 't want this afternoon to end! ' Trust me, we could not get out of their quick enough and go and find somewhere to get something to eat. The sophisticated dining room was a large, cold room with only a couple of other diners, sticky wooden tables, with no table cloths, just a flimsy paper napkin and a knife and fork. We ordered a coffee and a tea, which came in the smallest teapot, I have ever seen. Later in the meal, when we asked for another drink, we were told that was extra and were charged another £5.70. The food was nothing like as described or pictured on the website. A sad looking selection of sandwiches four quarters each of thin sliced bread one containing a very small piece of processed ham, a second mashed up egg, third was some sort of fish, not sure if it was salmon or tuna; and finally some sort of green leaf with something wet on top it looked like the sandwich had been made days earlier and then sat upon! No pastries or macarons but the two scones with clotted cream and two little pots of jam were OK, however the remaining small cakes were dreadful, none of them were fresh there were two eclairs that were inedible, either the cream or chocolate was off and they were very dry; two little red velvet cakes, which again were dry and horrible; and finally two small pieces of carrot cake that were the least objectionable but again very dry. When we told the waitress the eclairs, she said she would tell the chef but no offer of an alternative. True, it was an unforgettable experience, but not in the way we had expected! We have had afternoon teas in top hotels, pubs, cafes and well known garden centres and nothing came close to being as bad as this meal. Needless to say we will never return and would strongly advise caution if anyone is thinking of going here."
