"I have been to Cote restaurants in various cities. The Canterbury my local one, and all have been consistently great. I always know I will get great food, service and value for money. No matter how busy the restaurant, it's usually really worthwhile. Today was the exception. The restaurant was not at all busy, but the service was terrible. Nice people, but more interested in chatting and hydrating themselves than the customers. I had to ask 3 members of staff for some water when I arrived. They informed us they had only just put the wine in the fridge so it was warm. We were given an ice bucket. The majority of the ice had melted and there was a maximum of 3.5 of water in it. It was also splashed on my friend's clothes. I had to ask them to clear our table at the end of the meal. It is not what I expect from Cote. Very disappointed as this is a treat for my friend and I. Will be thinking twice before going back. I never write bad reviews, but I feel this warrants it. Such a shame!"

Very good French cuisine on English soil. Nice service and good location. Great place to dine with friends or family.

Fantastic food and service. We had three courses for £19.95 a head; a good selection, and presention was A*. The staff were friendly and attentive, but not overly so. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Very slow service. Restaurant seemed about ¾ full. Steak tartare came with no butter, egg or Worcestershire sauce. Broccoli of the main was a bit sad and tasteless. Crème brûlée dessert was pretty good.

The eggs benedict was decent, and is generally what you’d expect from a chain restaurant. I won’t be coming back as the food was just average for what you’re paying, and there are many other brunch restaurants that give better value-for-money Ver carta

Food really pretty good for a chain. The minute steak and frites was much better than I expected, tender, tasty, nicely cooked. Cocktails are a little wishy washy but the wine was good. Service fine, toilets 2 maybe even 3 flights up, so prepare yourself

The food at this restaurant was a mixed bag in terms of quality. The beef cheek bourgogne was perfectly cooked, but the mashed potato was terrible. The burger was dry and seemed to be cooked in old oil. On the other hand, the grilled tuna was amazing. Overall, I cannot recommend this restaurant.

Good French restaurant. I had the filet beef, very good. Unfortunately it arrived a bit cold as the fries. I think they cooked too quickly after our starters and left it lying around before serving it, too bad! Garlic fougasse was very good, the service was perfect. Without the cold filet fries I would have given 4 stars. Ver carta

This restaurant is part of a chain, which is not always a negative thing as some chains are great. Unfortunately, this particular location did not meet my expectations. The food was decent, the service lacking enthusiasm, and the atmosphere felt dull and lifeless. It's worth a try if you're curious, but I personally won't be returning.

The staff at this restaurant are friendly and attentive, and the food is delicious and reasonably priced. Our server, Bradley Lains, was pleasant and really added to our dining experience. We visited on a quiet Wednesday afternoon at 5pm, which helped create a nice atmosphere and contributed to our 4-star rating. We enjoyed the Fish Parmentier, Chicken Paillard salad, and truffle fries, all accompanied by the house wines.

"After never visiting Canterbury before we where looking for somewhere to have a late lunch, we came across this place which looked ok, upon entering the back room we were offered to take a seat in the front area and someone will be with us. We asked what food there was and we where sarcastically shown the food on the blackboard, after choosing what we wanted the polite man went off and put the order in. We did feel that because the man had asked a couple of questions to another member of staff that he was spoke down too a bit. Anyway after placing the order and what we wanted the food came out it wasn’t correct but because it seemed like we were going to interrupt the people in the back room we just took what we had. It was nice food though. When we went to pay we hadn’t noticed that there wasn’t a price list so when we asked for the bill we were told that it was donation, what we thought was enough, it wasn’t posted anywhere and it took us by surprise as we where standing at the till, I was going to pay in cash but was told they don’t take cash so I had to give my donation in card by telling the person how much we where donating. After plucking a figure out of air as we wasn’t prepared we paid and left. Upon leaving we felt that the person we paid thought we hadn’t paid enough and wasn’t happy with the amount but after working out what we would have paid properly we worked out that we had paid more than what it might have been if there was a proper price on everything. Overall it has a great ethos and it’s great for giving people the experience that they need to be in a working environment but they need to show the price or tell customers first that it’s donations and card only."
