Following a refurb, their food offering has 50% off and is great value therefore. Lunch was good pub food, service excellent a bonus to sit outside on one of the hottest days of the year.

Booked for lunch purely on basis of location but found friendly staff and perfectly acceptable food. Just left with a bad taste in mouth as this is the sort of place that adds service charge to bill then sneakily asks you for a second tip on the credit card machine. Ver carta

The banquets are super comfy and the service was attentive and efficient. Certainly did not leave hungry as the portions were ample as well as delicious. The only issue was that we ate on a Thursday evening which meant the bar was rammed and the noise filtered into the dining area so my group had to raise our voices to hear each other.

Our waitress was absolutely gorgeous. Sweet, kind and patient. Food was spot on. Well portioned and fresh. The vegetarian burger was the star of the meal that came with wasabi mayo. When you order sweet potato fries anywhere... it's usually in small portions. Here, you get a dishful! Yum! We finished off with cornflake ice-cream which was delicious and innovative.

A nice alternative to the other restaurants in the area, this pub is bringing the popular pulled pork, burgers and american style alternatives one finds popping up all over London to Clerkenwell both reasonably priced and executed well. Service was a bit abrupt all the time it could have been a bit more subtle as our conversations were often duly interrupted by one of their attendants. Ver carta

Overall the food was good, however the service was very poor, I was with 6 colleagues from work. half of us had starters the others only had a main course. i asked for all the main courses all to arrived together but in fact the people only having a main course received their food before the others had received their starters. In additional we ordered a second round of drinks. these were left on the bar and a member of party in the end had to fetch them.

Tuesday lunchtime was not busy at the Artisan of Clerkenwell but despite that, it took an age for drinks to arrive. The food did not take particularly long, however and my friend's fish chips looked as it should. My fish finger sandwich was less successful. Rock hard goujons in a baguette so over crunchy, it stripped the roof of my mouth. Half way through our meal, the bill arrived, without being requested and we got the sense it was time to go. There are some great places to eat in the area but on this experience, The Artisan does not quite measure up.

We arrived having booked a table for 6 people on a Friday at 8pm and although the bar area was busy, the restaurant was virtually empty and we needn't had booked. The dining area is extremely dark and we could barely read the sparce menu (the menu I'd viewed online had much more on it) We ordered some drinks which took a fair while to arrive, but came with an apology about the wait. For starters we shared some small plates, which were fantastic. I would highly recommend the scotch egg. Unfortunately this was the highlight of the meal.
