"I had a wonderful experience at this pub, feeling at home the moment I walked in! My friends, who live nearby, took us there for lunch, and I was genuinely impressed by the great selection of beers, the extensive lunch menu, and the quality of service for our group of four. The beer was fantastic, and the food was equally excellent when it arrived. Since we only see our friends occasionally, we thoroughly enjoyed our leisurely lunch, feeling relaxed and happy at the Blue Bell. There’s plenty of parking available and a large garden outside with lovely views of the surrounding landscape. Overall, it was a truly delightful lunch! Many thanks to everyone at the Blue Bell in Hoby! We’ll definitely be back!"

Lovely country pub. Still looks and feels like a real pub as opposed to a 'pubstautant ' which so many have become. Good selection of beers and decent food. Friendly service too.

Had an excellent meal at the Blue Bell Inn last night, a beautifully cooked lamb shank and mash with veg dish, followed by chocolate cheese cake with ice cream. Will definitely be returning soon Ver carta

We had lunch for nine on our way to the spa, and it was a wonderful experience. The venue itself is beautiful, and the staff were very helpful. The service was excellent, and the food was fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. I especially enjoyed the thick-cut ham, eggs, and chips—it was simply delightful!

excellent pub duve, friendly service and with our dog under the table a perfect lunch break. many real choices, I had the Tibetan crash, it was very good. when we asked what was the difference between the big and small main course subselection, we were told sticky toffee pudding. even our dog a tasty bite. we will certainly visit again when we can get in very popular. There’s an excellent selection of dishes on the menu, including an impressively diverse dessert menu! I often find dessert choices to be dull and repetitive, even in top restaurants, but at the Blue Bell, I was spoiled for choice with so many enticing options. The staff is friendly and attentive. We enjoyed our main meals inside but asked if we could have our desserts and coffee in the lovely garden out back, which boasts a breathtaking view of the Wreake Valley. It was wonderful to relax to the sounds of birds and distant horses. I would highly recommend the Blue Bell for any occasion!

Proper pub. Proper food. Proper ale. We found this by fluke, travelling back from Lincolnshire. Thanks to Google Maps we popped in. We were not disappointed. Despite our visit being Aug 2020 (post lockdown) we were welcomed and served like the old days, but with a few safe measures in place. The food was excellent, the service matched that, and the location was perfect. This is a good old traditional pub with plenty of history that you can read about on the walls and very comfortable to be a part of. It’s family friendly and thanks to the great play area outside, good for kids too. Plenty of parking. Free WiFi. Good Beer Guide 2020. Really pleased we stopped.

"I can't recommend The Star Inn as a location and it's brilliant staff enough! We chose to stay here for our recent wedding. We booked the day before for myself and my bridal party and then the night of the wedding. We also booked a breakfast for the wedding party on the morning after the wedding. We met The Star Inn at the wedding fayre for Brooksby Hall and they offered the best price around but never pressured us to buy a certain amount of rooms like other hotels. From the minute we booked which was a year before the wedding they treat us like royalty. When we arrived to pay a couple month before the wedding the staff were so kind and helpful it really felt like we were staying with friends. When everything is so stressful organising a wedding you simply must pick to stay here because they will look after you so well. The bridal suite (Seagrave Suite was perfect for getting ready in the morning. Ample space for my makeup artist and hairdresser as well as my three bridesmaids. There was room for the dresses to hang too. While we got ready the adorable housekeeper came with fresh towels water and biscuits but her energy was perfect too as she was as excited as me for the wedding! The bed was so comfortable, clean and beautifully presented with fancy throw pillows. The bathroom has a mirror that lights up (perfect for getting ready! as well as a rain shower, normal shower, and bath tub which made the perfect night before pamper session. There was parking outside enough for everybody although some on the street slightly away from the hotel and pub. It was also great to have photos in the morning on the green outside. The food is delicious here with brilliant kitchen staff. The bartenders are also friendly helpful and chatty. If it isn't obvious already this is the best hotel and pub in the local area and the perfect wedding stay. I would give more stars if I could. Thank you so much everybody who looked after me and more importantly my wonderful family."

"On my travels I thought I’d try this place as I’ve passed it many times and was on my route. Unfortunately they didn’t take phone orders, but understandable in this trade I guess for P&L margins for dummy orders and so on, but would have really helped me out on the day as time was pressed…and I was hungry. Also it’s cash only, which in today’s electronic transactional world is odd and I would guess catches a few people out, but that’s the businesses prerogative. Outside 1st impressions, not great to be fair. The outside dining area is right next to the car park and very loud if you’re trying to have a relaxing meal. Maybe quieter later in the day. The window boxes outside have had little love recently which hosted a variety of dead or dying plant life. There was also lots of cobwebs etc on the main entrance. Also, the designated assembly point, in case of a fire or evacuation, was interesting very close to the road and petrol station. I think the rear car park would be a safer option, but this may not be the choice of the cafe and be pre designated by the H&S team. Inside, much better. Clean and seemingly comfortable with a few patrons enjoying their meals. Guy serving was smiling and friendly. I think there was a review previously that said something along the lines of this was a transport cafe. Tbf, it is without trying to take anything away from its ambitions. The website (Which is very good) I think sells it as something else and from the reviews does some very good Sicilian courses, but the main trade here is breakfasts I’d suggest, which I’m guessing tells its own story. The cobs we had were served quickly and were of good quality, so no grumbles there. As with all dining experiences, the first bite is in the presentation, unfortunately if passing trade think the outside isn’t great there’re unlikely to be drawn in next time around. Maybe back one day."
