"I made my lunch reservation for Saturday 10th December online through OpenTable on 21st October, and then visited the Bowling Green Southam website to obtain a copy of their Christmas Menu, which they advertised as being available every day except Sundays from 1st to 23rd December. It was a special occasion in which we were travelling 120 miles up from Surrey to join old friends for our annual Christmas reunion. We wanted to try something different this year to our usual venue near Leamington Spa, and after reading the generally positive reviews online, we decided to give The Bowling Green a try. We were a little early arriving, but as the restaurant wasn 't very busy, we were taken straight to our table. After taking our drinks order, the waitress then presented us with their current a-la-carte-style Main Menu. When I then asked her that we would prefer to order from the Christmas Menu instead, a copy of which adorned every table in the room, she declared that this was only available if booked in advance. I then informed her that nowhere had I seen anything to state the requirement, either on OpenTable nor their own website, and that this news had come as a great disappointment. She then remarked somewhat dismissively that she was already aware of the unfortunate omission and could only apologise. Left with little alternative and not wishing to sour a festive occasion any further, we decided to stay and placed our orders from the Main Menu instead. However, to add to our disappointment even further, the waitress then proceeded to reel off a number of dishes (starters, mains and sweets) that were no longer available, ironically owing to the chef being 'very busy producing Christmas menus instead '. Luckily, our food arrived fairly promptly and was of reasonable, if not entirely memorable, quality. In summary, our culinary experience fell well short of expectations, especially since they had ample time in which to notify me of the Christmas Menu booking omission."

"part of dallas burston polo club, this newly built country pub is beautiful, with or with the polo on. they have front and rear terraces to sit on or in winter, they have cost fire. they also serve every day food that is a short but varied menu and they have a good list of weeping, beer and champagner. the personal is friendly and the whole place is immaculate. Finally, they make a free taxi service within 5 miles. highly recommended!"

"A pub which reminds me of canalside dining when I first did it 32 years ago. Boaters and locals happily chatting together, charming and pleasant staff, nothing fancy food or drinkwise, just traditional pub food and drink, but what they do is done really well. We had a home made Lasagne with a surprisingly lovely side salad (often it is literally just for appearances, but this had lots of tasty and crunchy ingredients in a glorious sweet dressing) and gooey cheese topped garlic bread. Amongst other things we had a normal chilli and a vegetarian chilli, both were delicious an enormous rack of ribs and Biscoff cheesecake which put a big smile on my face!!! Bill was smaller than I expected. I wouldn't hesitate to go back."

"the blue lias is a beautiful place to visit for a relaxing drink and lunch that was eating very well together with the good service. the facilities are excellent, toilets, parking space and above all the area for eating outside, along the canal. we had a nice and relaxed lunch while we looked past the narrow boats and the animal world slowly and quietly. exactly what we needed after the last months of restrictions were most people on the face masks and on the distancing rules that were beautiful to see."

"This pub/restaurant has incredible potential. I visited at the end of January, so we stayed indoors, but the building itself is charming. I had dinner with my sister, whom I hadn't seen in a long time, and we ended up spending nearly five hours there catching up. The staff were incredibly friendly and made sure we were comfortable throughout our visit. The food was excellent, and the service was great. We spent just over £50 for two, which included a shared dessert, some drinks, and coffees, making it a fantastic value for the quality we received."
