"We have been coming to this restaurant for a couple of years now, and our experience has been a bit hit and miss. As a cook myself, I have had some great meals here, but also some not so great ones. Despite this, I will continue to come back as the kitchen staff is constantly changing. One thing that stands out is the fantastic selection of unique cocktails and excellent service. I would give this pub a 5-star rating, but I would recommend sticking to the more traditional dishes on the menu. The outdoor seating area is lovely on a nice day. After a disappointing meal, I returned twice and had a great experience with the service and quick service. I was even given a full refund for the meal that was not up to par, without any issues."

Delicious food, good value for money. Only tempered by the fact that my preferred choice, the chowder was off the menu that evening. Still, the seafood platter starter and the lobster macaroni cheese were gorgeous!

This lovely and unique small restaurant may be easy to overlook, tucked away on a back road atop a hill, but it is a delightful find. The interior boasts a beautiful blend of modern decor with traditional elements, including interesting historical tidbits about the building. The food was excellent, with a good selection of drinks as well. I highly recommend this hidden gem!

The manager at this restaurant was calm and attentive when we dined there, especially considering the special needs of the birthday child in our group. He even provided a cup instead of just a glass, and when he learned it was her birthday, he surprised her with a delicious sponge cake. It was such a thoughtful gesture. The restaurant was clean and the food was excellent. I highly recommend paying a visit. Ver carta

First time in Dunoon even tho I am a Glaswegian , this place has been total class. Amazing rooftop terrace and food , disclaimer : my Mrs ordered the food as she was hungover from her girls night out the previous night and loved it while I just enjoyed the lovely views from the terrace and a good few pints of tenants !! Although I was picking at her dinner as she's a lightweight it was very good. Thanks the braes am still here if u want to get me a free oint for this review

first class husband I had here before 2 weeks a fabulous meal. I had the seared scallops and my man had three times the lamb. both were so good and beautifully presented. for the desert was the lemon lime posset as well as in the did the whole meal was mouthwatering delicious. the personal was friendly and efficient. we had first-dinner drinks on the deck that looked out at the sea/hole, after which we had dinner in the stylish dining room in the upper floor, after our meal we went down into the bar that had a great atmosphere with a guest entertainment. we would definitely recommend the braes and look forward to our next visit.

"On our last day here, killing time before the ferry, decided to try luncheon here. No expectations either way. And we were TOTALLY wowed it was just excellent. Trying not to put too many superlatives in this review, but it was really, really ace. We had a lovely table by the window overlooking the harbour where you could see dog walkers, children in wellies, crabbing, and little boats coming and going. Classic Islay. Then I have to mention the food. Jeez, it was top notch, and huuuuuuuge portions. I don’t think we’ve ever had four such consistently generous and fulfilling portions before. We had the scallops (massive, juicy, plentiful , the Crofter’s Platter, which was cheeses, hams, sausage rolls, salad, bread, chutneys; the soup massive bowl, loadsa crispy sourdough bread, and the fish and chips which was so big it draped over the plate! All delicious. Our guy, Andrew, was superb, so attentive and smiley and always bringing us more things, spoons, drinks, more bread, spoons, he was great. And we had a lovely chat with the very friendly and nice proprietor. She was wonderful. Really seemed to care about the place and her team. She told us all about the hotel and stuff it was really cool. We will most certainly come back here next time. You can’t necessarily get the best table every time, but we won’t mind if we don’t! : Oh, also, lovely clean loos!"
