"Firstly, apologies for such a long review, but SO much went wrong! My husband phoned to book a table of 6 for last Saturday night at 8pm for our daughter’s birthday. The lady told him he would have to pay a £5 deposit per person for tables of 4+ and pre select our meals. She was unable to take payment over the phone so he would have to come to the restaurant. She told him the table would be decorated and they would put out balloons. A few days later my husband was in Bedford so popped in to pay the deposit. Another lady said no, you only have to pay a deposit and pre book food on tables of 8+. She told him the table had been booked for 8:50pm. He said no it should be 8pm so she amended it and confirmed the table would be decorated. On arrival for our booking, a young lady was very confused and I could see on their piece of paper that our booking was not on their list. She whispered with 2 men, then they seemed to have a disagreement with each other. One of the men told us to follow him. We did, right to the end of the restaurant, where we were seated in semi darkness, next to the toilet, at an undecorated table and it was very cold. We sat, chatted and perused the menu. About 20 minutes later, the same man came back to our table and said he wanted to take our drinks orders only, he was very firm about that. We told him we were very cold and he said that he couldn’t put the heater on because it would make other customers too hot! After another 15 minutes or so, some of our drinks turned up and the two bottles of diet Coke, that we had ordered amongst others, were flat and tasted horrible. We waited for the man to come back to our table with the rest of the drinks, but my husband gave up and took the two bottles of Coke to the bar to swap them for something else. They told him they were very busy and the lady he had spoken to when he had gone to the restaurant and confirmed our booking, had been sacked because of her mental health issues a fact that he told them they should not be revealing to customers! When my husband returned to the table, we were still waiting for one persons drink, eventually turning up when we asked again. Following that we were then able to give our food order (after being in the restaurant for about 45 minutes). When the starters finally turned up, they had brought one spare one that we hadn’t ordered . We made a mental note to check the bill at the end of the evening to ensure we had not paid for the two flat cokes and the extra starter. They came to clear away our starter plates, whilst one member of our party was still eating hers. Once we had received our main meals, my pizza was supposed to be a spicy chilli one However, I have had spicier toast in my lifetime! The chilli pizza that the previous management used to serve was delicious, this was not. My daughter did not enjoy her carbonara. On trying to use the unisex toilet, we had to point out to them that there was zero toilet paper in there. It wasn’t particularly clean either. When our main meal plates were cleared, the staff took them through the fire door at the rear of the restaurant, presumably a shortcut to their kitchen, however, they left the door wide open, making us even colder! One of our party got up to close it for them. Then both the men came back to the table again and began collecting the placemats off the table and started clearing everything away. I asked our table if anyone would like any desserts or coffee, because clearly they weren’t on offer from them! We were told that they wouldn’t bother bringing our bill to us, but we should pay on the way out. We were very much being told to move on! Because of everything that had gone on prior to and during the evening, we said no, we would like an itemised bill please. So the man brought it to us extremely quickly, if only the food and drink had been as swift! As expected, the bill was wrong with the Cokes on there as well as other mistakes, however, the mistakes worked in our favour, so we accepted their incorrect bill and paid it on our way out! Obviously, no tip was left! We have eaten at this restaurant for lunches and dinners many times over the last few years, but sadly it only takes one really bad experience with literally everything going wrong and now we will never, ever go back with these people there. We were embarrassed to have taken our friends there to celebrate our daughters birthday when we could’ve gone to so many other amazing Italian restaurants in Bedford."
