"I’m *NOT* a local resident but was appalled at the lack of respect shown to residents living directly opposite the pub. It’s a quiet area and the small pedestrian area outside is regarded as a playground by the pubs clientele: children run around screaming unchallenged, sometimes on scooters, which must really disturb the people living opposite. Today there were children sitting in the doorway of a front garden, sat on the step, chalking on the pathway leading to that property’s front door. Front garden walls contain lost children’s toys propped up for by-passers to collect and forgotten empty glasses. The noise is loud and on the several times I’ve had to visit there, it’s never unchallenged. I find it really bad manners and rude and I’m very thankful that I don’t live anywhere near it!"

One of the best roasts I ever had. Decent size portion too. Friendly service. Will definitely go back!

17 of us came here yesterday for a meal following a wedding. Loved it! Great service, we felt very looked after! The food was amazing, hot, fresh and tasty (I had tiger prawns and chicken supreme which was delicious) No one was kept waiting for either starters or mains. Really impressed and can’t wait to go again!

Our friends live locally so we’ll all went for the Sunday roast beef dinner , the roast beef was very fatty like cutting elastic bands they would probably taste better roast potatoes rock solid about half inch of hard skin struggled to cut them with the sharpest of knifes. Veg al dente alright Yorkshire puddings cheap shop bought reheats and so yet they are easy to make fresh pity . I would struggle to even give it a one out of ten you have been warned.

This was our first visit to this traditional pub and we had a very good meal. Inside the atmosphere was pleasant and staff were friendly and helpful. We were a party of four adults and one child and we all ordered different meals, jerk chicken, steak and ale pie, lentil and quinoa salad etc., all were good, well cooked and presented. Drink prices were reasonable, bottle of decent red £25.00, food prices also we thought very acceptable. Will definitely return when back in the area.

We had a birthday celebration outside in the garden mid-week, and the Castle staff made it really special. Helpful and accommodating, prompt and attentive, they really made us feel valued and looked after. The food was excellent and all served together for everyone. I had the padron peppers as a starter, which were delicious, and the beetroot burger with goat's cheese, also great. Friends had the hummus, and the sea bass and jerk chicken, all of which went down really well. I've always liked this pub and would definitely recommend it for a special celebration as they look after you with both humour and grace which greatly contributes to the experience. Ver carta

We went on a Tuesday night , fairly quiet, beer garden closed even though 27 degrees which is odd. The beers were ok, service was slow. The food was dire. The burgers were so small it was less than a kids portion. Couple of cold chips, the lemon cheese cake wasn’t a cheese cake but a cheap store bought lemon sponge from a corner store. Was grim. Would probably go for a drink if they allow the customers to use the outside area (as it is summer) but plenty of better places in the village which were all rammed at 7pm hence why we had to go to the castle. They have a couple tables in the front but they are reserved for the locals (I’m a local for 39 years btw)

Chilly Sunday afternoon, 4 of us headed done to The Castle for a roast. Quick service straight away, drink on table in under 5 minutes. Spot on. All 4 ordered roast: chicken, 2 pork and 1 beef. Slightly smaller portion than I was expecting, and no gravy on the side, just what you were given which was a little too thin for my liking, but tasted ok. We all enjoyed the food and the drinks and deserts came around and they were good too, no complaints really. I had the cheese for desert and they gave me tons of crackers and loads of cheese an excellent portion of cheese and great value. I like this place a lot think it could do with some minor improvements but strong Sunday roast.
