"We stumbled across The Chip Shed in Bourton on the Water when the Italian restaurant that we wanted to visit was fully booked up. Personally, British fish and chips is just fish and chips to me; it 's either good quality, mediocre or disappointing, and the best I 've had has been from coastal resorts and also one particular restaurant in North London. I wasn 't really expecting much from this restaurant apart from the standard, but I was pleasantly surprised. What I ordered: Starter Battered Scampi. Main Battered Haddock, Chips and Mushy Peas. Pudding Sticky Toffee Pudding. I was a little disappointed in the starter size, but that 's an issue I have and really need to reduce my portion sizes. This didn 't matter, however, when I tried the scampi. It tasted very fresh and I 'm sure that the scampi itself couldn 't have been battered more than a few minutes before it was served. Possibly the best scampi I 've had! The main was a very generous helping of chips and a good size haddock. Again, everything tasted fresh. The batter on the fish was very light and fluffy (as described , and the main meal itself didn 't leave me feeling 'heavy ' as a meal of this size (in carbs can. The mushy peas tasted like they had been fresh mushed. They weren 't overly salty and had a nice mild taste to them. The pudding was also delicious. I don 't have a sweet tooth and would usually struggle to finish a pudding this size; this one, however, wasn 't overly sweet... I left the plate clean : The service from the staff was excellent : I would definitely visit again."

I enjoyed their traditional cod with chips and peas. The fish was crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside, just as it should be. The staff were really friendly, and the service was quick. Overall, they are great for their fish, and I would recommend them.

on Friday afternoon, the staff were helpful and attentive, we were sitting fast and eating did not take long. decor is industrial and works really well. I was in the warwick filiale that I really enjoyed at the moment, I think there are only the two. I ordered halloumi with chips and curry sauce ruined. I really enjoyed it and recommended belonged employees advise other customers on gf also.

We stopped here on our way to Somerset and enjoyed a lovely meal. In addition to the usual fish and chips, they offered a variety of other dishes and specialties. I tried the crushed pigs in blankets, which were delicious. The children's meals were also excellent and each came with a side of their choice. The staff were all friendly and welcoming, and we will definitely return when we’re in Bourton. Ver carta

I have been dreaming of the burger and chips we had here last week. Friendly service, welcoming atmosphere, and completely gorgeous food. Traditional fare cooked perfectly. The chips were creamy, crispy, and addictive. The burger was total heaven, really, really good. And the sticky toffee pudding with custard was the perfect end to a perfect meal. We're checking the diary to see when we can visit again ASAP!

Being from one of the best coastal areas for fish and chips I can honestly say I enjoyed every mouthful. Haddock perfectly cooked, tasted fresh and batter was spot on, chips lightly cooked as requested and even though the curry sauce was a little runny the taste was traditional and just right. Sitting in wasn’t a hassle either within 5 minutes we had a table for 2 cleaned and ready to go. Will be back for more soon with photos this time

When it came to the fish and chips, this place truly surpassed all others I’ve tried. While it was a bit oily and heavily fried, the fish was tender and maintained its fresh, original flavor. Among the différents options, I preferred the plage over the light and cadjau. I highly recommend trying the curry or tartar sauce for dipping the fish. The chips were hand-cut and appeared to be much healthier than others I’ve encountered. Although the steak pie didn’t leave a lasting impression, it had a pleasant taste. One delightful surprise was discovering their personalized To-Go boxes. Our waitress kindly packed our leftover chips in parchment paper, which was a nice touch. However, as expecte... Ver carta

"Having stopped in Bourton on the Water and thought I would grab something to eat to save sorting something out later that evening. Having a quick scan on Tripadvisor I thought I would give Smiths a try. Entering I was given a choice of table so opted for one by the window to watch the world go by! I ordered the Smiths Classic Burger, Truffle and Parmesan Fries and thought I would give the Limoncello Spritz a try. Some reviews on here say that there is a wait for the food to arrive and yes there is and to me that is a good thing. If you have to wait it means that the food you have ordered is cooked freshly for you. The burger was well cooked and flavoursome with just the right amount of extras inside to make it something easy to pick up and eat. The truffle and parmesan fries again were very flavoursome. The Limoncello Spritz has a bold claim on the menu in saying that they make Limoncello better than the Italians but to me personally Sorrento Limoncello is superior but Smiths Spritz is still very drinkable. Family run and friendly had a nice conversation with Seb about other places locally to visit and with mum (sorry I didn’t catch your name) about how they came to Bourton and the history of the tea room to burger restaurant change. Yes there is a service charge, yes the mention it when paying and ask if that is ok. To me yes that is fine. Visit other restaurants (not cafes or fast food) and you’ll find that they also charge a service charge. Maybe it should be printed on the menu, maybe it shouldn’t. Everyone has their own opinion. Would I go back again? Would I go with friends? The answer to both of these questions is……. Yes without a doubt!"
