"Well where do I start with my review of the Cochin restaurant? Firstly having never dined there before we were not sure what to expect. We had only read reviews on TripAdvisor and Google which had been very complemently about the food and service so we wanted to give it a try. We had a table booked for 2 at 8.30, and we were met at the door and shown to our table by the window by a very pleasant waiter. He prompty brought over our menus, and we began to peruse through. The menu had a extensive selection of fish dishes which pleased me as I love fish, so I felt spoilt for choice as my expectations grew. The waiter was very attentive and informal and very knowledgeable about the dishes on their menu, and was happy to answer any questions we had. I finally settled on the fishermans soup for starter. Sadly this was a big let down! Very watery, no depth of flavour and next to no fish in an actual fish soup!!! My friend ordered the minty chilli prawns, the sauce which coated the prawns was tasty and zingy and the prawns cooked nicely however sadly the portion size and presentation was disappointing. Both starters seemed to arrive very quickly after ordering, which was a surprise. It seemed to me they had just been warmed through and thrown onto a plate. For my main course I ordered the mixed seafood curry which consisted of King fish,squid,prawns and mussels cooked in authentic Kerala special spice mixed sauce. The fish was cooked perfectly and the earthy Kerala special spice mixed sauce was the perfect accompaniment to the fish. Sadly the squid was over cooked and rubbery which was the only negative aspect to the dish. My friend overed the kuttanadan duck roast which consisted of slices of duck cooked in thick roast gravy sauce. The sauce had a lovely velvety rich flavour to it however the duck itself was a big let down as sadly it was tough a chewy. All in all some postives but also some negatives. If this was a school report it would probably read, 'tries hard but can do better '!!!"

Take away from The Cochin on a Saturday. Excellent service and delivery. Food amazing with more than ample portions. Change from usual Indian takeaway menu. Highly recommend.

Lovely place and really good food. We would recommend the samosa starter, nice and spicy but with a nice lemon freshness to it. Lovely staff also, would definitely come again

If you're a fan of Appam, be sure to visit Cochin restaurant on Tavistock street. I had a fantastic experience with friendly service from the staff. I wanted to write this review for anyone looking to indulge in delicious Indian cuisine.

Never had to wait so long for even a starter to come out! Cold plates. No real explanation that we could understand. Won’t be in a hurry to go back. So disappointed as we usually have good service. We were in at 6pm and didn’t get food till gone 7pm!

It has been a long time since I last had truly authentic Kerala food like my mom makes at home. Everything was delicious and it was a perfect treat for me and my boyfriend. The staff were also very friendly and the atmosphere inside was lovely and warm. We will definitely be coming back the next time we visit Bedford. Ver carta

We have visited this restaurant several times in the past, but not recently. The meal we had tonight was absolutely delicious. We started with Samosa Chat, followed by Mushroom Masala with Paratha and Yogurt Bomb Puri, Aubergine curry, and rice. Every dish was perfect and the service was fast. We will definitely be returning as soon as we can find a reason to eat out again.

Absolutely stunning authentic food and exceptionally good value for money and the staff are pleasant courteous and provide excellent service. It’s nice to visit an Indian restaurant that doesn’t have the same old same old on the menu, the dishes you find in every other Indian restaurant, makes a great change and everything comes out fresh! A menu that is a pleasure to peruse!! The best bit about this place is if you are Vegan they openly advertise vegan options, so if you choose a vegetarian option and ask they will be happy to make it vegan. Easily 5 stars all day long!
