"For a wonderful afternoon out, The Bull at Broughton is superb. Enjoy a walk around the Broughton Estate and then enjoy fine food from a traditional Sunday lunch to an varied a la carte menu. Friendly staff welcome you and it’s dog friendly too! (Need to book). Already looking forward to returning. Even if it’s for the take-away option being offered during these Covid times. 5 star! "I've walked by this charming cafe/restaurant several times, but I never realized it was only open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Fortunately, we stumbled upon it this Sunday during our walk along the canal to Gargrave. It was clearly a popular spot, and we were not disappointed with the quality of the food. From the outside, it may appear small, but that's deceiving—the interior is much larger than we anticipated! We would definitely recommend it."

"I stayed at the Premier Inn in Gargrave for four nights, and on my first evening, I decided to try the Masons Arms pub in the village for dinner. The gentleman behind the bar, who I believe was the owner, was very friendly and helpful. I ordered the Masons Steak and Ale Pie, and it was absolutely delicious! I enjoyed it so much that I returned for dinner again later that week. When you find a great place to eat, why go anywhere else? The food was consistently good during my stay. Over the various nights, I also tried the lasagna, chicken, mushroom, and tarragon pie, and the luxurious holiday home pie—all of which were excellent. At £10 for each of these meals, it was also a great value. The pub itself has a wonderful local atmosphere. Some of the locals even greeted me on my second night, which added to the friendly vibe. I wouldn't hesitate to return to the Masons Arms!"

"We have not been to the Tempest Arms since before it was refurbished, as our last meal there was not enjoyable. Unfortunately, things have not improved. The atmosphere of the place is nice, with a cozy country pub feel and a welcoming log fire. However, the food was very disappointing. The starters were basic and unappealing, with the chicken pate looking like it had just been taken out of its packaging and the crab crostini lacking in flavor. The main dishes were a mix of good and bad, with the rump steak being cooked well but the steak salad being inedible and lacking in flavor. The restaurant will need to improve its food in order to attract repeat customers. The place was fairly empty and the cocktails were not well-made. Unfortunately, we will not be returning unless there are changes made to the menu and chef."

"This is by far the worst meal out experience I’ve had in my life which has driven me to leave this review as soon as we left sitting in my car. They took other people’s orders before ours and totally forgot us, waitress was getting frustrated at us when we asked questions to do with the menu (also didn’t make eye contact but just huffed and puffed, they brought us a number of wrong dishes that they later changed and my sons dish happened to be wrong that I realised halfway through him eating it. Steve (their waiter and a very nice man) acknowledged it was wrong and said it would be knocked off the bill, the man at the bar along with the female waitress who took our order proceeded to literally shout at me because we notified them about that dish at the end. To start with, she said it was right until she checked with the kitchen, but still she wouldn’t apologise. Never have I felt that disrespected and verbal aggression towards be by restaurant workers. Even 2 other tables next to us told my wife that the service had been terrible. And just to top it off, mine and my wife’s dishes had no flavour whatsoever! Avoid this place, it’s expensive and you’d get a better meal and service at your local takeaway. Photo is the dish they tried to tell us was ‘house hot spicy chicken wings’, when Steve (their nice waiter) clearly told us that it was their ‘house Cantonese wings’! I know Chinese, and this dish was clearly Cantonese sauce!"
