"Wonderful stay at the Crown. Gorgeous country pub with some beautiful rooms to stay in. Extremely comfy bed, nice bathroom, clean and tidy. Felt very comfortable there. Despite covid, there was a warm welcome, made to feel at home. Food excellent. It's a perfect place to stop off, enjoy some country walks, and head back to the crown to be fed and watered and sleep. Would very much recommend The Crown. It is a nice little spot, but its best asset is Alan, the owner, who greets you, checks on your during your stay, makes cheeky comments with a glint in his eye, and essentially makes you feel like a very welcome guest. Go for a night. You'll come away content and refreshed."

My husband and I had dinner here. Excellent food, well presented and delicious. The service was good and Jess looked after us very well. Highly recommend.

The worst Sunday meal. Totally hap hazard service to start our experience.. I ordered beef and my friend had the pork. My meat was not tasty very chewy; the pork was not cut from a joint and had an ‘aniseed’ taste. The vegetables were awful. When I asked for horseradish sauce, I was given mayonnaise.

Fantastic man, great place and delighted with the food and banter. This is my favourite place to go for real homely food and friendliness. Alan is a gentleman and is so nice to his staff. The atmosphere is friendly and generous. There is no badness here everything is done with pure love and goodness. So refreshing to find this special place. Ver carta

Returned here for the umpteenth time and was not disappointed. Real ales, great food and great service are par for the course here. The warm beef salad is absolutely delicious! Don't bother with the Blue Boar (the only other pub in the village) until they have replaced the insignificant little twerp who currently serves as the landlord there.

Had a family get together today location is ideal for people travelling from opposite ends of the M4. Excellent lunch we pre ordered, which made everything very smooth, and the food itself was fantastic. Big portions, good variety, high quality. Dogs and toddlers made welcome, as were we all by the friendly service. We'll be back. Maybe at Beltane.

After being greeted by a Dalek outside the pub, I went inside and had a lovely meal of sausages and mash. The female member of staff behind the bar on the day was nice, friendly and made me feel welcome. There was a bit of a wait for the food but it was all worth it in the end as it was so good and with a generous portion too. I'd come back here for a meal anytime. A great pub. Ver carta

I 'm a village local and a frequent visitor to the Crown. Last night was the best meal I 've ever had there, and best anywhere for quite some time. The chicken terrine starter was flavoursome and the accompanying 'garnish ' tastefully done and presented. The wild boar sausage and duck confit was cooked just right and the squash/bean combination very well flavoured and seasoned. I wasn 't going to have a dessert but given the previous I did and the baked white chocolate and cranberry cheesecake was spot on. Congrats to Dan the Chef.

"We stayed here ten years ago and thought it was wonderful and worth every penny. We were so excited to return, but really Disapointed. The grounds are lovely and we were pleased with our room. The children loved the outdoor space and the pool What really let us down was the food and service. There was no luxury here. The family dining choices were poor. The children's meal was bad one had fish gougons and sweet potato fries which were very salty. The other two had pizza, the small was served as half a pizza, the large was a conventional round shape. Both were shop bought bases (cardboard) with grated Cheddar on the top. Something I would not feed them at home let alone expect in a supposedly high end dining. My husband's steak was chewy. My main, whole plaice with creamed potatoes, the potato was served in a ceramic dish and it was cold. It was taken away and then took ten minutes to return by which point I had eaten the fish. The food was incredibly expensive considering how poor the offerings were. The next day we ate a very late lunch in Bath so we would not have to eat at the hotel. The breakfast buffet area had some nice items but was really understocked and allowed to run to empty. The staff functioned but not at a steady rate, we found the service slow and the staff disinterested. Such a contrast to our previous visit. The person in charge we found sullen and felt as if our presence was an inconvenience. When we walked through to the dining areas we would hop out of the staff'so way for fear of being bulldozed. When we left the receptionist was polite but did not ask if we enjoyed our stay. A week later I had an email to complete a survey and nobody got in touch despite the same feedback as given here. Very dispointing. Lovely room and surroundings but poor food and poor attitude from staff. Last year we stayed in a hotel that cost 65% less than Wooley Grange and had a much better experience."

"We had a tremendously good lunch here today-the food was quite delicious, the staff were very friendly and helpful-I’d say it’s probably one of the best lunches I’ve had in quite some time….so to give you a clue we both had the pork-this sounded really lovely and we were not disappointed-pork belly, tenderloin,a faggot and a ham hock croquet with mashed potato and roasted cauliflower with a delicious jus and a slice of pickled apple( which I ate immediately with a piece of pork and when the waiter came to ask how our lunch was I asked if he could possibly get me another piece-which he did For dessert we shared the passion fruit crème brûlée which came with a passion fruit sorbet and some chocolate soil…..the focaccia we had at the start of the meal was superb and the coffee was also excellent -we do enjoy both cooking and eating-one of life’s pleasures and it’s abundantly clear the chef absolutely loves food too-a great display of cooking books from the greats sort of got me thinking it would be a good lunch…….also worth noting the drinks menu-some lovely wines, soft drinks and cocktails both alcoholic and non alcoholic. I finished off with a mocha which was hot chocolatey but not too sweet. Bradford on Avon is most definitely worth a visit and I’d say you would be foolish to miss out on a great experience if you didn’t also pop in to the bunch of grapes for some sustenance while there… Thanks for lunch and as Arnie says “ we’ll be back”….."
