"my wife and I were thrilled to find a pub with a vegan menu so close to us. when we arrived there, the server was quite atmospheric, but we were excited to see what looked like a great menu. we waited for about 20 minutes for our food and were extremely disappointed when it arrived. we ordered the miso Aubergine reels with kale and flower cauliflower cousin salat ' that we thought would be aubergine rolled up in a fancy-ish art, but it was actually aubergine filled in a sad durability (at least so delicious) brotrolle. obviously they don't know what cousin is because it was cut small instead of semolina cous, it was just flower flower to see how cousin! there were no suits or tastes. we also ordered the spagel and minze tagliatelle, who agreed to have hardly taste, and the pasta was again, sad and mushy. the only thing it saved was to cover it in salt. it is so sad to see a menu so, all excited and disappointed, but at least there was a chance to warn others to go there. there are much better options in colchester, even a trip to sudbury is worth avoiding this place."

they have a separate menu for vegans, starters, net and a real dessert included! I had the sweeter for pornstars and the pecan pier for gloomy. really nice eating and very good service.

I had to send my meal back because the vegetables were served cold. The pie was okay, but it was only a pastry-topped dish. I ordered pudding, but it wasn't available, and they were out of the real ale I requested. There were plenty of staff walking around, but they weren't very attentive. Ver carta

there is a vegan menu that was great, but several items I ordered were not available as they did not have it on stock and so I had to order something else that was disappointed. the app does not work properly, so I did not get my 33% though my booking via the app after the promotion and the service was bad, as we ordered drinks extra and the half of our order came out and the other half never came. disappointed total and will not be back!

The waitress had no clue to take over our order or deliver it!! Food came out, but only for the three meals instead of four, no steak knives came with food, wrong sauce for my steak, had to wait while the other meal came, which left our meals cooler. In all those years I have gone out, I have never, never come about this much inability and unprofessional waitress, I will not go back, although after speaking with managers we had deducted money from the bill.

The waitress was completely clueless when it came to taking our order and serving it. Our food only came out for three of us instead of four, and we didn't receive steak knives with our meals. My steak had the wrong sauce, and we had to wait for the last meal to come out, which left our food cold. I have never experienced such incompetence and unprofessionalism in all my years of dining out. Despite receiving a discount from the manager, I will not be returning to this restaurant. Ver carta

We found the restaurant to be chilly, as we were seated by the window. The soup we ordered arrived cold, so we sent it back to the kitchen. One bowl was returned to us hot, but the other was still cold. Our main course was finished before our wine arrived. Throughout the meal, we were never asked if everything was satisfactory. The restaurant seemed understaffed for the number of diners. This experience was disappointing, especially since we have enjoyed dining at this restaurant in the past.

We often drink eat at The Crown , food is generally very good with a very friendly service and mostly very efficient . On this particular evening unfortunately one of our meals, a pie was slightly overcooked, but still eatable and tasty, after more gravy was brought out by the waitress. We did mention this problem but as it was not too bad, we did not think it was worth a major complaint or sending it back to the kitchen. On settling the bill we were told that the pie had been deducted from the bill, excellent policy with excellent service, problem resolved immediately by this action. Very happy to recommend this pub and we will continue to eat and drink here and make it our main Colchester...
