"This restaurant was recommended to us by our B&B proprietor. We had a very enjoyable meal here, It was clearly popular, as the restaurant filled quite quickly after our arrival. I opted for the beer battered haddock, chips and peas served with tartare sauce….delicious and served piping hot. My husband opted for the lovely sounding Korean style chicken strips in a honey, garlic sauce served with rice. He said it was so delicious he could have eaten it all over again….a compliment indeed. We both chose Apple Crumble and custard for dessert, again, really enjoyable. Friendly professional young staff….would highly recommend"

We came here for dinner on a quiet Monday. Delicious pub food enjoyed the steak and ale pie and scampi, and excellent sticky toffee pudding.

Staff friendly. Rooms and food very average. Hotel is tired . Car park is handy. (I had to write 100 characters)! Would not recommend or return.

Meal was nice, filling too. The portions were big but the food wasn’t overly amazing, the peppercorn sauce served with the steak was a bit bland. Overall was good and good value too.

Close to the Bruce that didnt offer an evening meal, the Crown was recommeded. Not sure why but an average meal -the young ladies who waited tables had a good chat in the kitchen-shame about the waiting customers.3 different girls served me -none seemed to know who was designated my table .more training needed.

We went here for late lunch while we were staying in the area and was not disappointed. The front of the building is deceiving as it opens up into a lovely decorated restaurant downstairs. The food was exceptional, the nacho starters are the best I have ever tasted! My partner got the prawn cocktail and didn’t disappoint. We got the chicken chips and salad too and was so much eating. Hats off to the chef 5*

Had a pleasant dinner with the Mrs here. Menu is a little limited, but it wasn't bad at all. Had the steak and ale pie for main and the haggis bruchetta to start. The peppercorn sauce on the starter was very overpowering, but the pie was really good. Wish I had mash instead of chips! Mrs had chicken fillets and mash with the peppercorn sauce (again overpowering) and brownie to finish. I couldn't comment on the brownie as she finished it in 3 minutes. Definitely worth a visit, and pre book!!

Great location, most rooms are great. We had booked 4 males in here and were given a single room and a family room with a double bed and a single bed. After moving rooms twice, we ended up in 3 rooms! The young lady on reception was very helpful but clearly didn't know what type of bed and how many in each room. The breakfast service is 5-star. Nothing was too much bother, the food was excellent and a great selection of continental breakfast. We were so full I couldn't finish my full Scottish breakfast.

"My wife found this when looking for a place for us to spend our wedding anniversary. It sounded good on paper. It was a long and tedious drive for us though and I wasn’t sure it was worth it. I was totally wrong! This place is superb and well worth any drive! The setting is great-it has its own beach and there is a small patio where you can sit and there is a heater there too if you need it. There’s a nice lawn in front of the hotel too where those with dogs took them for a walk. The rooms are all different and all well appointed with their own en suite. The costs of the rooms reflects the size of the room and not the facilities. If you are tall like me (6ft 2) I wouldn’t go for one of the rooms in the roof as the coomb ceiling is a pain. However the thing you go there for is the food and that is sublime! It is a set menu in the evening which reduces waste and helps control costs. You get 7 courses, all quite small , but at the end of the meal you are adequately fed but not full. We were there for 3 nights and had a different meal every night. All the dishes were superb but we had mushroom soup one night and it was the best soup I have ever tasted! In fact it was one of the best foods I have ever tasted! The breakfast is very good indeed and you can order whatever you like from the menu which is very comprehensive. I found that set me up for the whole day and I didn’t need a lunch. I must also mention the wine. The wine list is very comprehensive with some difficult to come by wines in it too like Chateau Musar. On 2 nights we went with the wine pairing list which I thought was very good value, especially the cheaper of the 2 lists we had every night. The hotel is a good centre for seeing things in the local area and , despite going in November we found things to occupy ourselves for the 3 days we were there. They have various themed weekends too which sound brilliant. But the hotel is so good it is worth going to anytime. We will certainly be back."
