"Open since 1970 and located on Mardol, one of Shrewsbury’s oldest streets @thecurryhouseshrewsbury serves locally sourced ingredients married with traditional spices and chillies from the Indian subcontinent, a match made in heaven. 5 5 Recommended Price No better way to kick off proceedings but with popadoms, chutneys and fresh onion salad. On to appetisers and there are so many tempting dishes to choose with many of these exclusive to the curry house. Our first time trying Pani Puri. A sweet and spicy hot street food snack filled with chickpeas and tamarind sat on a bed of crunchy, nutty Bombay mix. With a building but pleasant heat, definitely something everyone should try. The quality and freshness of the seafood was exceptional. Spicy king prawns were huge and cooked to perfection. Charred on the outside for flavour but juicy and meaty. Trio of King scallops were beautifully tender and of a good size with sweetness from the tamarind liquor. Lamb rogan Josh tender lamb shoulder in a medium hot ginger tomato and onion sauce. A strong take on a traditional favourite of ours. Fresh from the Tandoor a generous mix of marinaded chicken, lamb, king prawns and a chargrilled lamb chop. The Tandoori deluxe massalla sauce was the perfect blend of sweetness melting into a subtle heat which brought the dish together perfectly. The curry house takes traditional dishes and flavours from the Indian subcontinent and elevates them to a level beyond expectations. Thank you for our invite to share the exciting menu created with passion and creativity. If you are looking for a curry house with a difference this is the place for you. #theshropshirefoodies #foodblog #foodstagram #shrewsbury #shropshire #restaurantreview #foodjournal #foodblogger #instafood"

You can't go wrong with the curry at this place. Even though the portion size may be small, it will fill you up if you order rice or naan as a side.

Came back after a very long time! Exceptional food, great service atmosphere as usual! The lads have up'd their game after their recent setback. Keep up the good work! Ver carta

Our family adores this restaurant! The Indian cuisine is authentic and perfectly seasoned. We can't get enough of the lunch buffet and dinner options. We visit almost every week.

Spur of the moment choice and we were not disappointed. Excellent staff and service. Food simply wonderful. Only downside was a draught of cold air aircon or door open and acoustics quite loud both music and other diners. But would definitely go again!

Very friendly staff, nice atmosphere, average curry. This place has good ratings but really doesn’t taste so great. Some of the vegetable dishes are mixed vegetables (frozen). The sauces are similar, not strong enough in flavor and generally too sweet. Ver carta

I went to eat at Curry house that day, the food was delicious as well as the service was comfortable. Especially the food cooked by the head chef Moinul Islam added a different dimension. The sincerity of the staff was more impressive, especially Sourav and Noj.

Recently visited the Curry House Shrewsbury for their Gourmet menu it was exceptional! Their food is always great but the gourmet menu is definitely a favourite for a special occasion. The bombay bindi aloo Seabass palak were the best I have ever had. They never fail to amaze, from the service to the quality of food served. Couldn't recommend them enough.

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."
