"We ate dinner here on New Year’s Eve with myself, husband and 2 daughters. The pub was busy but we were sat in the back restaurant, so it was cosy. We were welcomed from a manager saying “welcome to the mad house”……this says it all really! If you are gluten free then this absolutely is not the restaurant for you. There is no separate menu or indication of what you can eat off any menu. I was simply handed over a tablet and had to figure it out! Took a good 15 minutes for me and my husband to suss out what menu was what etc. Unfortunately there were only 3 gluten free mains and the one I wanted had sold out! Thankfully they managed to find me an alternative steak in the kitchen. Service was very slap dash I enquired about a straw for my drink as it hadn’t been mixed properly. I was told they don’t have straws at this pub and then 5 minutes later the same waitress, who informed me of this, carried a tray of drinks to our neighbouring table with straws in the drinks very bizarre. It took a good 45 minutes for our mains to arrive, but no one had cleared our starter plates when the mains arrived. All very amateur. My daughter had a burger and commented on how bad it was she’s only 10! My husband was the only one that had a pudding as I really couldn’t be going through the gluten free tablet again to figure out what I could eat! Unfortunately his pudding was barely lukewarm. We’d given up hope by then, asked for the bill and left £130 lighter! Extortionate price for a very bland experience! We paid only £30 more than this to eat out at the Ivy a few weeks ago and obviously this was an enormously far superior dining experience! I’d avoid this place and spend your money elsewhere. Definitely won’t be retuning, which is such a shame as the building is beautiful. It’s a very badly run chain pub with what seems lack of attention from staff or management. Food was not worth the prices at all."

A Vintage Inn Pub with the usual Vintage Inn's menuTraditional, well maintained interior, a large number of staff about, who were mostly pleasant.

A massive, but on the whole average kinda pub situated in the sleepy village of Dunchurch, just outside of Rugby. We didn't arrive here until after 9pm and

this place is always really busy, which is good and bad - yes it gives it a great atmosphere, especially around christmas but getting served is a nightmare,

Visited for New Year's Day lunch and it was lovely. Great food and service. Good selection on the menu and all very good value for the quality and portion sizes.

Arranged a pre Christmas meeting with family and they booked this place….first time here so no pre conceptions. Very busy week day service, we were shown to table immediately and did have a short wait for drinks and food service ,which was ok. Ordered roast Turkey from the festive menu. The presentation was shocking…2 slices laid atop of the veg! The veg was poor, carrot was sliced in two and the same for 2 whole parsnips! Add in half a dozen sprouts and a couple of not very well roasted potatoes and you have at best an old school dinner! Would be interesting to see how the service and presentation compares when not so busy……but I can’t say I would be rushing back to find out!

I would recommend that if certain items on the menu are not available, diners should be informed when given the menus rather than after waiting to order, only to be disappointed. Unfortunately, my family will not be dining at the Dun Cow again. This was the third time we experienced slow service and unavailable food - how does a supposedly competent hotel run out of fish and steak? Additionally, the food we did receive was cold in the middle and hot on the edges. Upon informing the manager, who seemed unfazed, our meals were removed but we waited too long for replacements. We decided to leave and found a lovely pub with friendly staff, a variety of menu options, good service, and reasonable...

This is the first and unfortunately, the last time dining at the Dun Cow. It was a birthday lunch and it wasn’t a great experience. We were ignored when arriving, the starters of Brie Bites were so overdone that the cheese had all but disintegrated. The main meal of Turkey roast was very good but the desserts were actually cold. The custard was solid, there were no check-ins or offers of additional drinks from the waiter . The waiter was not rude but not very engaging or friendly and chewed gum loudly throughout. I had to walk around to find him to ask for the bill and then waited so long for him to return I ended up paying at the bar. Mediocre food and unwelcoming and terrible service for a...

So disappointed after a long wait for food my turkey didn't arrive with garlic herb ruffled potatoes just plain roasts no broccoli no stuffing wrapped in bacon as described on menu waited 10 mins for cauliflower cheese side then pudding arrived creme brulee with supposedly homemade shortbread was actually accompanied by a shop brought lotus biscuits not homemade biscuits not as described again no explanation or given the choice to order something else for the cost I would expect to get what I ordered or at least an explanation before serving shouldn't need to complain .clearly ran out of vital ingredients but didn't advise when ordering or when served which is poor. Too busy to care judging...

The service we received at the restaurant on Sunday, December 10th was shocking. The pub has deteriorated and is no longer the cozy and warm Dun Cow it once was – it now feels cold and unfriendly. It took the waiter 25 minutes to take our order, and when our food arrived, it was thrown at us by a busy waiter. We ordered the Trio Sunday lunch which was supposed to come with Crackling, stuffing, and broccoli, but instead, we were given sprouts. When we asked the waiter about the missing items, she couldn't answer and never brought them to us. The food was bland, the beef overdone, and for £20 per person, it was unacceptable to be missing parts of the meal. When we expressed our disappointment...

"Visited this place for the first time last night and have to say the service was really really poor from the second we walked through the door. Our table was booked for 7.45pm we didn’t get seated till 8.20pm and when the young girl seated us there was no apologies for waiting and she came across very blunt..the soup starter was lovely but the bread was a let down it was like cake and the bread with that brown sauce on ruins the bread it tasted pretty nasty,my friend liked the bread but said that the sauce ruined it. The bread to me just wasn’t very nice I make home made bread myself and this was pretty poor it tasted nothing like homemade bread. For the main I had a medium rare steak the steak was very raw inside you may aswell have just gave me a cow mooing and only the sides had been touched it was cold in the middle!! and warm on the outside (I ate it as I was so hungry I had been working all day and came straight home dressed and out again) but it had not been cooked properly to how I like it, I felt funny after eating the steak. The service was really poor one lad said to us “have you finished with that” nearly everybody spoke so lazy there was no professionalism. There was only one person who stood out as I overheard him serve another table and he was very welcoming and professional he was wearing all black and was also working on the bar he had dark blond ish hair and spoke gentle,I hope your paying him well because his manners etc is impeccable and he was very polite to us when he served us upstairs at the bar."
