"favourite restaurant in the northeast and would definitely recommend everyone. the earl is a quirky bar restaurant, nestled on the outskirts of newcastle city center, not far from the famous st James’ park. a hidden gem filled in a city with restaurant chains, it has independent of what is for everyone. vegan, vegetarian and gluten free with helpful staff who check everything with the cook for them. her Sunday dinner is the best in the city (roast lamb or spring leaf of bark meat are both amazing) our recent visit was a Friday night and the meals were fish tacos, flower cabbage steak served with celeriac purée to start, chicken cherry with rice, lambskeer with cous-cous and flat chocolates are much better names (the menus my pictures do not do justice. Dinner prices were: £20 for 2 courses £23 for 3 courses the midday is cheaper. (our other guests at us also ate and enjoyed their meal, but it is a bit rude to photograph their guests eating) when they are in newcastle, their missing out if they don't try the earl!"

The Sunday roast was absolutely delicious. The meat was cooked perfectly and just fell apart. The service was fantastic, with staff who were smiling and attentive. I would highly recommend this restaurant as the perfect place for a date, with its beautiful and cozy atmosphere.

Two very good courses for £15 was a real pre match treat. Sunday roasts are top notch too, and there's always at least a couple of interesting beers on the bar. Slightly out on a limb from town, but well worth the effort to seek it out. Quirky decor is interesting too, but I won't spoil the surprise :

I went to this restaurant on a Sunday afternoon and it was incredible. I ordered the bark and nasturtium. I typically only eat veggies, so I was pleasantly surprised to find a pub on a Sunday afternoon that had such tasty options for vegetarians. The veggies were cooked perfectly. I also indulged in a delicious piece of cheesecake afterwards. I left feeling completely satisfied. Ver carta

Something of a hidden gem that deserves to be better known. A lovely place to sit and enjoy a drink with friends, with a good choice of drinks that are very reasonably priced. Also the ladies toilets are great (never underestimate the power of clean and shiny toilets to improve your visit to anywhere! The food is very good indeed, with an interesting focus on East Asian dishes. Recommended.

for Sunday dinner at earl of pitt street. managed to grab a last minute table booking for two. the personal was absolutely incredible, great service and excellent camaraderie let us feel so comfortable and at home immediately. eating was nice, everything was really nicely cooked, the bark fell apart. the only thing I would say is that it could have done with something more, but it was still very delicious. we had a great time and I would recommend it to everyone who has a great lunch.

"The place seems unprofessionally run. The staff all look like they could do with a bath. No overalls are worn and their clothes are all of the type that many would wear to lounge around the house in . Several have longer hair and beards but don’t wear any kitchen p.p.e. The decor is shabby and I wondered what kind of hygiene rating they would have. Although not busy, the staff seemed to be disorganised, falling over eachother and lacking in training. They seemed to handle the food in an inexperienced, clumsy fashion. The only tool I saw being used was a pizza peel for taking the pizza in and out of the oven. On all other occasions the food was handled. I didn’t notice any hand washing or alcohol gel in evidence. The menu is quite limited and uninspiring. 2 of the 6 pizza choices include chicken which Italians would argue is definite no no! All pizzas are reheated to order which eliminates the possibility of customisation. I don’t believe the restaurant would stand out in many European countries, as pizza in general is of a much higher standard than that in the UK. In spite of the above, The basic pizza is excellent in taste (even though it is all re-heated). And for this reason it is worth a visit. Compared to other uk pizza restaurants which are typically serving absolute garbage, the food is way out in front. If you can tolerate the negatives I’m sure you won’t be disappointed with the pizza. However with a bit of effort, this place could be transformed into something truly amazing."
