"This was my final visit to the Elburton Hotel. My friends and I went for lunch on Sunday, the 31st. Unfortunately, there was no parking available. I ordered the large Roast Beef, but was disappointed to find that I only received 3 slices instead of the promised 5. The roast potatoes were also a letdown - there were only 4 small quarters that, when put together, barely made 1 roast potato. They were as hard as bullets. The meal was barely warm and was served on cold plates. Lesson learned - I will be sticking to our usual restaurant in the future."

There's no vegan options at all and they don't have any non dairy milk substitutes so no coffee either. Staff friendly enough though. Dogs allowed so that was good.

Have lunched here a couple of times this month and the food has been amazing each time. Fantastic service from friendly staff, lovely surroundings, efficient service and very reasonable prices. Definitely a great place to lunch on a Friday.

The staff at the restaurant were friendly and welcoming. The food was mediocre, but I felt that the lasagna had been reheated and fresh cheese was added on top, making it dry. In my opinion, the cooking was very simple and not up to chef standards.

Came for quiz night tonight with the book club, exceptional and friendly service especially from gentleman in the shorts. Lovely blonde girl stopped at nothing to make sure we had a good night, even gave Sheila a book recommendation! Will definitely pop in again Ver carta

What a pub, we stopped in for a meal, don't live locally as we are from Cornwall but such a shame this pub isn't on our doorstep. My dad is 81 and suffering a lot with loneliness and the staff made his day, young girl called jem had a lovely chat with him really made his day! Thank you so much

The ambiance, drinks, and service at the restaurant were excellent, but the food did not meet expectations. The steaks were tough and lacking in flavor, while the portion of lasagne for £13 was disappointingly small. Despite this, I will still return for drinks, but will likely not dine there again.

Very disappointed. Went there on Burger Night, don't have a burger very often, however when it came it was more than overdone. Staff offered to replace it but eating with other friends would mean eating later than them. This should never have left the kitchen. They waived the cost of my drink but not the same. Ver carta

Very disappointed with the service and food. The staff were very slow and didn't know what accompanied the the main courses. The wrong drinks were brought and the staff were very slow to clear the tables despite there being quite a few staff and very few people eating in the conservatory. The main bar area seemed to be busy with groups of lound men.

Managed to get a table at short notice although it was very busy. A few choices of roast including a vegetarian option and also choices of size. We both went for regular and it was a very generous portion, really good value. There was a really good selection of veg and it was all nice enough, just nothing mind blowing. The Yorkshire pudding was very good. Wouldn’t rush back but would happily return if I was in the area.

"Visited on a busy Saturday evening. General impression is the restaurant is clean, well presented and evidently well liked for how many people were in the small dining area. A little noisy, particularly in the confined space beside the kitchen, when seated close beside a louder table. As the evening progressed, we felt quite cold not sure if the heating was on? Service from the staff was outstanding, very friendly, polite, attentive, but food was slow to arrive. We were a little perplexed by having the appetiser on the table before our starter/main order had been taken, so having to work around still having the menus. The smoked butter was very strong my partner liked it, it was too much for me. Both fish starters were good, with the mackerel our favourite. The main courses were OK. The lamb was fine, but served with lamb fat root veg meant the whole plate was very similar flavoured, and the green beans/salsa verde felt like an afterthought. The skate wing was nice, and the crispy capers were a new and pleasant experience. The desserts rescued the food for me the creme brulée was outstanding, and the chocolate special was very good, with exception of a slightly chewy meringue. I feel I'm being picky with my criticisms, but fig tree is definitely priced higher than other more standard fare restaurants in Plymouth where we have also had very good food."
