I was looking for a place to eat while on my way and stumbled upon this pub. It's a very old establishment with a lot of history. The interior is quite small, but there are plenty of seats outside that offer a beautiful view of the surrounding landscape. I enjoyed my lunch here and would definitely return in the near future when I'm in the area. Ver carta

I had the best vegan Sunday roast I've ever had. The gardens are beautiful and the staff and owners are so friendly. Just brilliant. Honestly, this restaurant was quite pricey for what it offered. The food was mediocre, and the portions were small—an example being the olives, which cost £7 for a tiny shareable portion. The service was also slow. I decided to try this place based on a previous review, but I wouldn't recommend it based on my experience. There are much better options nearby. Overall, the cost was around £70–80 per person.

So, given all the positive reviews I'm just going to have to guess that on the evening of an August Bank Holiday Monday the chef was elsewhere. It's a nice locals pub, good atmosphere and staff but the meal for 4 was terrible value e.g. £23 for lemon sole that was awful overcooked and/or dredged out from the bottom of the freezer and defrosted. Fish and chips that came with about 6 chips i.e. gastro pub in price only that day. Sorry if it had been a better price I wouldn't have mentioned it.
