"Rebooked the garden room at the Dormy House while staying nearby at the Fish Hotel. The setting was very warm and inviting, and overall the food was very good. However, the service was severely lacking and left us bewildered by the exoerience. Given the thoughtful and extensive wine list, we were delighted to see one of our favourite blends from South Africa on the menu. After ordering, and about 15 minutes later, the server returned to say there was an error and they put the wrong varietal on the list and wanted to serve us a completely différent wine from that producer. We ordered a different bottle in line with the food we ordered. However, our appetisers came before our wine did. Another 15 minutes of waiting (we are now 30 minutes into our dinner with no wine) and the waiter comes back with another bottle saying they have lost our bottle but for us to drink this instead while we wait. No explanation, and not even showing us the wine she poured. That was the last we saw of our waiter as somehow the room got busy and she took take of the other guests for the rest of the evening. We eventually got our wine, which was brought to the table opened without the cork. Strange practice unbecoming a restaurant of this caliber. When we finished our dessert, we struggled for 20 minutes to get any server to acknowledge us or clear our plates. So we went to the server station to ask for the bill. We watched our server work at at least seven different tables before we had to go up and ask a second time. When the bill came, the server didn’t even ask us how our dinner was. We gave our credit card and the other server took it away mumbling. She returned 10 min later to say she lost the connection. She handed us back the card and cancelled processing statement, and said she wasn’t able to charge our card. She didn’t know what to do and asked if maybe we deal with it at the reception (even though we are not guests of the hotel) Will not return."

Had a Sunday lunch to celebrate our wedding anniversary and we thoroughly enjoyed everything about it from our greeting at the front door to the presentation of our 'Happy Anniversary ' chocolates at the end.

When we booked this restaurant 2 months ago, the website showed a completely separate menu from the Potting Shed restaurant We booked the Garden Room on our 2nd night because of the different menu shown on the Website, we were extremely disappointed to be given the same menu as we had eaten from the night before. This is very lazy, and totally unacceptable. If we had been told, we would have considered eating in another establishment.

The food was good, although even by London standards very over priced. We had 5 courses, with a carafe of wine and 2 coffees total of £200 for the 2 of us. So although the food was good, and the setting nice, I would not go back simply as this is not a Michelin star restaurant, but charge as if it is. Staff was friendly and attentive, but at occasion too much so. Constantly checking up, trying to clear the table etc. which became annoying after a while.

Have been to Dormy House many times over last few years eating in either Garden Room or Potting Shed. We have always enjoyed a good experience with great customer service and excellent food. The last two times however we have been very disappointed with the lack of attention to customer service. Food still very good but the experience last 2 times (we did give them the chance to be back to its normally very good by going this latest time) sadly would make us think twice about going again. Such a shame as was such a great place! Might try their new Hook restaurant in the week to see if that is any better.........but worry that it won't be! Why have they changed what was such a great customer...

rebooked the garden space in the dormy house during the stay near the fish hotel. the environment was very warm and welcoming, and overall eating was very good. but the service was lacking and made us confused by reconciliation. In view of the thoughtful and extensive weinlist we could see one of our favourite mixes from South Africa on the menu. after ordering, and about 15 minutes later, the server back to say there was a mistake, and they put the wrong varietal on the list and wanted to serve us a completely différent wein from this manufacturer. we ordered another bottle in harmony with the food we ordered. but our appetizers came before our wine. wait another 15 minutes (we are now 30 m...

My partner and I had a meal at dormy house in the garden room, we opted for the 5 course option, overall I was disappointed in the food service here, id looked at many different Resturants in the Cotswolds area and thought dormy house would be better suited plus it had quite a hype surrounding it, I thought this would be ideal for my partners birthday unfortunately I was wrong, the decor of the room was beautiful, I couldn’t fault it, very intimate, quiet, perfect. But the food and service on the other hand was not, overall we had 3 different waiters/waitresses serve us, the waitresses were lovely! But the male waiter that seated us, was so arrogant made little effort or conversation, and ca...

"I had been in this pub for a while, but my family and I were on the way from cheltenham to Westonbirt at 17 o'clock and called for an early dinner. all four of us said that the meal was faultless, we enjoyed all three courses and cannot praise this place enough. such a great atmosphere, cordial greeting from the incredibly fabulous staff and a seat directly at the log tariff. what more can they demand. it is easy to find, beautiful location and has plenty of parking right next to the pub. in summer there is a large garden back. in februar this is the place to eat when they go to visit the colesbourne snowdrop gardens that are right in front of the house and not to miss. the menu at the colesbourne inn is huge and offers for everyone something wonderful, regardless of their taste or nutrition to choose. my calamari ‘Bar Bite’ size starter was superb and definitiw a greater part than we expected. the other appetizers, a black bell and black pudding with fried egg was superb as well as the bread selection we also ordered. mostly fish Pie....only full of a lot of different fish and whistle fish. my son had the steak and ale pier he claimed he was the best he had eaten in a very long time. two of us had the nut roast dinner.... I want my Christmas dinner to be as good as that. desserts of fruit crumbs and custard finished the meal with the obligatory glass or two of fizz. for each device in these times to offer this incredible selection of oriented, which is an absolute credit for them by the most kind of employees ever and the very high standards they did. highly recommended at any level possible. well made the colesbourne inn"
