"First time I’ve been in Lazenby for over 30 years, myself, my wife came here for lunch today I was actually blown away by the food, service and quality lovely young pleasant man on the bar A credit to the pub drinks reasonably priced The wife had fish and chips and I had sirloin steak which was cooked to perfection good size portions and the chips home-made really nice presentation was excellent we both had sticky toffee pudding, which was absolutely gorgeous as well and well presented we sat in the restaurant, which were very nice quiet and relaxing, and just recently decorated we are a bit of a foodies ourselves and sometimes can be hard to please but everything was excellent so next time you’re driving down the A1 74 to get your fish and chips don’t go to Redcar called in at Lazenby. You’ll be absolutely delighted. Thank you to all the staff at the Halfmoon will definitely back in the future"

We were referred to this pub and decided to try it out. The Sunday lunch was absolutely incredible. The portion size was generous, the food was fresh, and everything was served hot. It was definitely worth the price, and we will be coming back for more.

This is real home cooked food, not like your chain pub rubbish. I had a very generous helping of liver and onions with chips and veg, just like my Mam would make. **** lovely, the wife had the sausage and mash, 4 sausages served with mash, Veg and gravy . Very nice staff and nice quick service. Keep up the great work.

I’ve been here 3 times so far this year with 3 different groups of friends and each and every one of us enjoyed our meal and the friendly service. Due to Covid you may have missed its change in management (I did), lovely freshly cooked food and amazing chips and if you’re lucky a warm hello from Enid if she’s about (the pub greyhound)

The Half Moon frequently runs out of Carling lager every week, which has become a frustrating issue for customers. Despite recently reopening under new ownership and becoming a popular local spot in Lazenby, this ongoing problem needs to be addressed promptly. It is unclear whether this is due to poor management or lack of responsibility, but the overall atmosphere, staff, and company are still positive aspects of the establishment.

Lunch on a sunny Saturday we got a warm welcome at this village pub from a lovely lady. My wife chose the gammon steak and I had the chicken parmo, both served with home made chips. Hearty portions of well cooked food at very reasonable prices and a good selection of draught beers. Our concern is that good little pubs like this are going to find the significant hike in energy bills impossible to manage. To be honest the place was not busy, perhaps half a dozen tables being used and nobody in the decent sized beer garden even on this nice sunny day.

We decided to stop by this restaurant on a rainy Sunday afternoon without a reservation. The bar staff were very welcoming and friendly. As it was our first time there, we opted for the traditional Sunday dinner menu with two pork, one beef, and one turkey dish. We chose to skip starters and go straight for the mains and dessert. This turned out to be a great decision as the portions were huge! The plates were filled with plenty of vegetables, large roast potatoes, generous portions of meat, delicious Yorkshire puddings, and plenty of gravy. We were so full that we couldn't even think about dessert, but we will definitely be returning to try it next time. One person in our group had a small...

"We started with the Alkaline Nachos (£10.95), which featured nachos topped with marinated baked quinoa, fried beans, cashew cream, guacamole, pineapple salsa, and pickled red cabbage. The dish was drizzled with smoked cashew cheese. They were delightful, sweeter than any nachos I had before, and had a nice tangy twist. Next, we tried the BBQ Tacos (£9.50), which included shredded carrot in an alkaline BBQ sauce served in a crispy corn shell filled with fried beans and guacamole, along with pineapple salsa and pickled red cabbage, accompanied by a side salad. These were hands down the best BBQ tacos I've had in the north. The Thai Buddy Bowl (£10.95) was another standout dish. It featured orange teriyaki chickpea tofu, surrounded by pineapple "fried" quinoa, purple coleslaw, a Thai side salad with almond and ginger dressing, and quinoa falafels with mango chutney. The blend of flavors was incredible, and this was my favorite dish—something I could happily eat several times a week. I plan to return just for this dish! We also tried the Thai Wrap (£9.95), which contained quinoa and drippy butter falafels wrapped in a soft tortilla with mango chutney, coleslaw, and kimchi—served with a Thai side salad, almond and ginger dressing, and pineapple quinoa. The combination of ingredients in this falafel wrap was unexpected but fantastic. Once again, it was sweeter than I had anticipated. For dessert, we enjoyed the Pink Pitaya Acai Bowl (£5.50), a fruity and smooth blend with celestial blueberries, bananas, kiwi, and coconut—perfect for breakfast! It was a real power breakfast. We paired our meal with Immunity Boost Juice (£4.00 each) made from strawberry, pear, apple, and lemon juice—it was refreshing and invigorating. The Tropical Sunrise Smoothie (£4.50) blended papaya, mango, orange, banana, coconut, maple, and cashew, maintaining the unique flavors of each fruit beautifully. Lastly, we had the Peanut Butter and Jelly Smoothie (£4.50), featuring strawberries, banana, peanut butter, maple syrup, and lemon balm. It might sound odd, but it worked perfectly— the earthy peanut butter provided a lovely texture and taste that complemented the sweetness of the fruit. Overall, it was a fantastic experience that was well worth the wait."
