"This is a true gem of a place a warm, friendly, personalised welcome awaited us when we visited yesterday (Mother's Day . Everything about the King Rufus ticked all my boxes: the care for customers, the delicious toasties and warm brownies, tasty coffee made with care, a full selection of drinks behind the bar, board games to play and beautiful surroundings. The chilled music that played meant that we spent 2 hours relaxing and enjoying our visit. Mike and Cat the owners were so lovely, and as a dog friendly place, we were able to bring our furry girl with us. She enjoyed a cooked sausage which was no trouble to ask for : It was one of the loveliest Mother's Day afternoons I've had. Thank you Mike and Cat."

Absolutely love this little pub, not many like this left! Friendly staff with a really welcoming atmosphere. We usually enjoy a few drinks and a toastie on Fri evenings but on Sunday we decided to pop in for a ploughman's salad and I have to say, it was the best we've had. Great choice of items with lovely fresh ingredients. Can't wait to have another one : Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Ver carta

An unusual, unique and cosy pub. We visited on a Sunday and had the delicious Ploughmans while local act Daughters of Davis were playing. Drinks selection here is very good as were the prices....it was a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere and we had a lovely time. A hidden gem. Parking is limited but there is a free public car park just a short walk north. Price per person: £30–40 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes: Ploughman's Lunch

My friend and I dropped by yesterday to check out this local venue on an ‘off chance’. We were made so welcome by the landlord he then invited us to join ‘the locals’ for an impromptu evening of acoustic entertainment from a talented young artist from Ireland who was visiting family a young man with a beautifully engaging personality and a talent that embraced his musical ability! We got chatting to, ‘those in the know’ were recommended the home made Pizza on Friday evenings 7 8pm! This is such a fabulous venue I look forward to enjoying a Pizza evening sometime soon x

"(Delivery) Considering the high rating on Tripadvisor and the reviews of the place we were ready to give Kali Mirchi a go. After quotes of Best Indian and So much flavour being thrown around, we were anticipating a much needed curry. After placing the order and being told it would be 40 minutes, we waited an hour before we called to be told it had just left and would be with us any minute. It came to £19.20 so I gave the driver £20 and was told he had no change! Biting my lip to the sofa we dug in to our starters. The Onion Bhajis were more gram flour than onion and for such a cheap dish to make was surprising. I could taste the old oil which isn 't always a bad thing if it wasn 't for there being too much flour to soak it up. Oily onion bhajis seen to, mains were a go. I love my naan bread and wasn 't all that impressed with the one I had infront of me, the bright red keema filling had all dropped to one side and it was very thin. The pilau rice was nice though, I think they had added a touch of saffron. The Chicken Tikka Masala was average at best and tasted alot like cheese. Not how I would expect, it was also luke warm but did have good chunks of chicken. The lamb jalfrezi was overly spiced and had more than enough green chillies but abit too much oil. Unfortunalty we didnt feel Kali Mirchi had lived up to its reputation and I am a firm believer that food should be a similar standard when delivered, if this is the standard in restaurant then I would be very disappointed to have made the journey. Summary Nothing special, average experience for a takeaway, good portions of meat, but bad balance of spice and flavour. Check your change and order well in advance!"
