Nice place, good food, little atmosphere. Has a nice beer garden with gazibo and dog-friendly. Would come again.

Great place for family lunch with kids after a hike at nearby Meldon Reservoir. Fantastic value and great pub lunch. Staff were all really friendly and we enjoyed the large pub garden. Good honest pub with tasty food at great prices. Highly recommended.

Our party of thirteen called here for a couple of afternoon drinks and soon made ourselves comfortable. Very friendly bar staff and reasonably priced drinks. Large screen televisions didn't interfere with our conversation but would probably keep you from getting bored if you are on your own.

My wife and I visited for lunch. Covid restrictions applied fair enough. We found a table and waited for ten minutes, expecting able service. I went to the counter and was told Sit down I 'll come to you. Another ten minutes, she arrived. We asked her for a menu and was told we had to go to another counter for that. A simple solution to indicate Food orders here or Find a table would have helped. We went elsewhere. Ver carta

After recently reviewing a pub where we had a very good lunch for 2 for £10, we were very surprised when we stumbled across this pub in Okehampton advertising lunch 2 for £6.99 !! So, we had to give it a try and it was well worth it. The menu was varied, and even the meals not included in the offer were very reasonably priced. Between us we sampled the steak and kidney pudding, which came with chips peas and gravy, and the fish and chips, which came with peas, tartare sauce and a salad garnish. The drink prices were really good too, and the landlord landlady were very friendly and welcoming. The pub itself appeared to be well kept, clean, and recently decorated. Would certainly go back.

Firstly I should make it clear that this review and rating is solely as a pub as we only went in for a couple of drinks, so I cannot comment on the food or restaurant aspect. Situated by the church in the centre of town it looked as though it would be OK for a pint or two. However, once inside it could not be described as a cosy pub, as the bar is quite large (lengthways rather than square) and the modern wood-veneered floor together with the Formica-topped tables give it a functional rather than comfortable or homely atmosphere. Nevertheless, we settled for a pint (the only ones sitting at a table on our side of the bar – all others were standing at the bar or outside smoking) but the music...

I came here with some friends to enjoy a catch up having been unwell for a long period of time. I had not left the house for a long period of time so was excited to see some friends. I had no intention of drinking due to not being able to so I didn’t bring along any ID. I understand I should have brought along some ID incase and that is truly my fault. I tried to order a water and was refused then removed from the bar. When my friends asked why this had happened the bar staff (blonde woman) told them “she’s on drugs” and proceeded to tell them that my eyes looked “too big”. This brought me to tears, I had been discriminated against purely on how I looked. I went there hoping for a calm catch... Ver carta
