"Luck brought us to the Nag's Head last year after a bad experience at another hotel nearby. We enjoyed our stay so much that we returned this year. The accommodation is fantastic modern and clean. The restaurant has a varied menu of tasty food even for fussy eaters like me. We were blessed with sunny weather and were able to enjoy a few drinks outside on the patio. What really makes this place is the friendly staff. Abbie and her team worked tirelessly day and night and always with a smile. They even put up with our terrible jokes which deserves an award in itself. I would highly recommend The Nags Head and look forward to returning next year"

"This hotel is a little gem! The food was excellent and the attention to detail is second to none. I have a food intollerence which I had informed them about when we booked and they had done me a separate tasting menu including tasting wines to match. They ensured breakfast was tweaked and changed and nothing a problem. We stayed for two nights as we were attending a wedding for the second night. They normally only do rooms when you dine but they were kind enough to make exception, which was greatly appreciated. The rooms are lovely and very comfortable. Little things like fresh milk, caffertiers and freshly baked cookies add those extra elements of perfection. They also went above and beyond in coming to the rescue with a problem with my best friends wedding cake. I will definitely be returing and enjoying all the delights of Checkers and the beautiful town on Montgomery once again."

"a beautiful environment for lunch and delicious food, but overpriced for the size of the portions. I ordered her piedemont a roasted pfeffer for £10 with garnelensalat. the meal consisted of half a small roasted pfeffer with 5 black olives, two roasted cirches. tomato and a damaging filet. I could have eaten it in two mouthpieces. fortunately it came with a generous slice of delicious brot and butter. the side salad selections were delicious, but in very small portions. as I said at the beginning, eating was delicious, but compared to many other places we visit, it was overpriced."

"We had such a fabulous meal at The Nags Head. We were visiting Powys for the weekend and this was a highlight of our trip. We managed to book a table for Saturday night but they were busy so definitely don't leave it too late to book or you might be disappointed. We were greeted on arrival by friendly staff who showed us to our table. Its nicely decorated and the tables were set with care. All the waiting staff were friendly and polite We didn't have to wait long for any drinks or food ordered they were very efficient. The food was delicious We couldn't resist ordering 3 courses and left feeling very full. I had the branching to start which was lovely and nice to not contain mushrooms as it does a lot of other places, for main the most amazing lamb rumb lentil Dahl which had a a bit of a kick and a very flavoursome onion bahji. The Lemon cheesecake was a real chunky slice with thick biscuit base and plenty of the cheesecake and ice cream too!"

"My wife, two friends, and I went to The Dragon for dinner after not having been there for over 12 years. The restaurant has undergone a complete transformation with new, tasteful decor. We arrived at 7:30 pm on a Friday night and the place was bustling with a lively atmosphere. We sat at a table with a view of the square and were attended to by attentive and friendly staff. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. My wife's fish and chips had soggy batter, and my sirloin steak, ordered medium-rare, was overcooked and much smaller than the advertised 8oz. At £23, it was quite pricey for what we received. Overall, I believe there is room for improvement in terms of the food quality at The Dragon."
