"Called in for lunch, the place is quite outdated not very clean. A vacuum cleaner had been left in the dining room still plugged in with the cable stretched across the floor, there were a couple of chips under another table quite a few cobwebs. There was a large dog in the dining room which didn't bother us but then a cat came from the kitchen got on a chair at our table again it didn't unduly bother us until he walked across our table we had to lift him off. We were the only people in the pub had ordered food on arrival , after 45 minutes we asked where it was were told it was taking a while as they were trying to find things! It finally arrived after waiting almost 1 hour , ridiculous given that we were the only customers there, the young man woman serving were very pleasant but it seemed that they were on their own trying to do everything. Won't be returning"

One of the best pints of fullers London pride I think I've ever had. The beer was well kept and crystal clear. I will certainly be returning to sample some more.

I would say that we had just the most tasty roasted we had ever lived in ours and we had a few! meat cooked to perfection, amazing bratkartoffels and gravy for dying! I wish we had lived a little closer!

the food was excellent, well cooked and a good selection of sweets to go with the choice of roasts. they were so busy that they literally advised themselves, which meant that there was a constant supply of freshly cooked food. I'll be back soon.

this quirky pub is open all day and one has to eat and drink while visiting the village pidley. had ham egg and chips on Monday and the ham was extremely tasty. had beef madras today (Wednesday) and again was very delicious. has chocolate orange cake and custard for pudding on both days and can honestly say it is highly recommended

Visit The Mad Cat if you want to feel right at home in a traditional pub atmosphere; you'll find authentic friendly faces, delectable food of excellent quality, and Kirsty and Darren will make sure nothing is ever too much trouble. I enthusiastically endorse the Sunday roast buffet, which features an assortment of meats accompanied by their respective garnishes. Don't delay visit today!

An Indoors BBQ for 20 people like no other was held during Storm Antoni where the innovation, patience, skill and professionalism of Darren, Kirsty Mum Karen were tested to the max. The complete hot BBQ was cooked to perfection in the small kitchen (including well-caramelised onions for the hot dogs) and we all were accommodated in the dining room. Service was on time and there was plenty at £10pp to go round with some having seconds.

This venue is off the chart. We booked a table for 12 for a Sunday cavery. The staff are extremely welcoming and catered for us to an exceptional standard. The food was by far the best we have had and the chef was absolutely wonderful with our younger family members. She even went the extra mile with our daughter that is a very fussy eater. This venue is a definite must visit. Massive thank you from the Maltby family. We will be back soon.

"We 're looking forward to trying the Pheasant again on a normal day. We went on Boxing Day and it was pretty disastrous. Meant to be a treat but it certainly wasn 't. Starters were nice, no cooking involved apart from the pesto. Then the mains. The beef was grey, not pink as I was told it would be but it was tender. The roast potatoes tasted a bit old but there were plenty. The Chantenay carrots were very soft. The Savoy cabbage was perfect but the portion was tiny. The gravy was nice but we got a different variety when we asked for more. The Yorkshire pudding was the main disaster; it seemed old, and very hard to the point of shattering. Desserts. The sticky toffee pudding was fine although the serving of sauce was very mean. The clotted cream with it is, in my opinion, the best way to serve this pudding, it 's a relief from all the sweetness. The apple crumble was terrible; it came in a bowl with the custard already in it with the pudding. The apple was sour and the crumble was squidgy stodge. The service was fine although some staff not yet fully professional. We would have expected a welcoming hello and goodbye but that didn 't happen. Our overall feeling was that there was serious penny pinching going on with the mains and desserts but this is a very bad idea when you are judged on your last meal but we do intend to try again because it 's such a wonderful building and we 've had many good experiences in The Pheasant, perhaps before the present owners, we 're not really sure."
