"We absolutely adore this place and highly recommend it. The description of it as a 'hidden gem' is spot on. It's located just below the Town Hall/Museum and is delightful no matter what time of year you visit. Hot drinks are only £1 and the cakes and scones are scrumptious. They offer a variety of teas, including breakfast tea, loose leaf earl grey, and loose leaf 'Abingdon tea'. There are also board games and books available for those looking for something else to do. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, and the food is delicious and reasonably priced. Whether you're a tourist in Abingdon or a local, this is definitely a must-visit spot."

I enjoyed my toasties very much. Inside was far better than the near by Greg's. I would recommend eating near after looking around the museum.

The staff are always friendly, the food is simple but always delicious, the setting is quite amazing and the prices are very reasonable. This is my favourite cafe in town, without-a-doubt.

Tucked down below the museum is this tiny little coffee/tea shop. Hot drinks are just £1 and despite the lack of space, you are encouraged to stay a while with books for adults and children.. crossword books... a dressing up rail (just for children Ver carta

It is fun to go down under the museum to have lovely fresh food and drink. The sandwiches are excellent as are the small salads and lovely cakes. Down in a side room is the old pump machinery that kept the mouse hole dry many many years ago. A fun place to visit.

My first visit to this restaurant was today, and I couldn't resist trying their festive turkey sandwiches. They did not disappoint. The sandwiches were delicious and generous in size. The lady who served us was very friendly and appeared to truly love her job. Thank you for a great experience.

The best Toasties in town by a country mile.I visited the cafe with my daughter and Son in law for a snack.I was a bit sceptical about the self acclaimed best in town toasties claim. However the cheese and tomato toastie I ordered came with fresh salad garnish and the toast beautiful and crispy. No doubt in my mind the best I've tasted and could be the best in uk. We visited this little cafe for lunch with my 5 year old son after being recommended it by a friend. We were not disappointed. From the warm welcome of the staff, to the delicious food, nothing was a problem. There is even a little area off the seating plan, where little ones can learn about the history of Abingdon water pumps and watch an old pump work whilst waiting for their food. The cafe is situated in the basement of the Abingdon Museum, so after (or before), you can pop into the museum for a nostalgic look back into the history of the town.

During our stop in Abingdon on our way to Oxford, we discovered a charming cafe located in a museum. We decided to have lunch there after exploring the museum's Crossley Pumping Engine in the basement. The cafe, which closes at 2pm, was able to accommodate our order for two delicious cheese and ham toasties with just half an hour left before closing. Despite being a simple choice for lunch, the toasties were excellent and satisfied our appetites after a nice visit to the museum. We recommend this hidden gem to others, but vegetarians should arrive before 1:30pm as their options may require more time to prepare.
