"We visited the Chequers Inn when staying at the nearby Charney Manor hotel. We were greeted with a warm welcome and seated by the wood burning fire lovely Great choices on the menu and the men in our group enjoyed a local beer. My husband had the lamb shank whilst I had beef and mushroom stroganoff, our companions had the Christmas dinner and steak pie. We all enjoyed our food especially the beautifully cooked vegetable which accompanied the meals. Although we probably didn’t need it we all had desserts which too were enjoyable. The nicest thing about the pub welcoming staff and no TV or music playing, just an opportunity to sit, eat good food and talk to each other"

"I recently cycled here for an overnight stay with my girlfriend. The staff were very helpful in terms of accommodating the bikes from booking and on arrival. The room was very nice and comfortable, but can imagine it may get hot in the summer as there is no air con. The bathroom was very nice, with a great shower and the bed was large and comfortable. It has to be said, that for the price, it was very, very reasonable. we paid £140 for an overnight stay, including £70 towards our meal, and a great breakfast with decent coffee. The bar was reasonable and the food was good, with italian meals that aren't necessarily the bog standard selection. If you are looking for an overnight stay, I'd recommend."

"beautiful small pub in small village. exelent service and exelent food! Sundays carvery was spot on, all three of us had the roast pork bell served with cheesy leek and brocoli, apple and apple sauce and a common side of veg. everything was boiled to perfection and large portions, so they definitely always great worth for their money. we also had lattes and again they are good quality and creamy. we had a pod table that I could imagine are even better in summer when they are out. do not let them shut off during this winter, as they have put the pods in a jaquee with heating and it is very pleasant to have their own little blase! well decorated and designed. if they are looking for a beautiful Sunday meal, this is the place will be returned defined. (the pictures don't give enough credit to eat!"

"Food drinks: The service was excellent, (from Archie), but another waitress was downright foul. She was so rude and unnecessarily unpleasant that it was almost comical. She slammed the food on the table, wouldn’t look at us and got really angry because I asked for a jug of water! The food was also not so great. Mac and cheese wasn’t oozy, more claggy, but the flat iron chicken was tasty with a generous portion. It was impossible to hold a conversation because the music was so loud. "I made a reservation for dinner with friends during the week, but when we arrived, there was no table reserved and the pub was quite crowded with people drinking and playing pool. We had checked the menu online beforehand and were told that it would be the same on the day. However, there were some discrepancies - for example, the chicken bites did not have a choice of sauces as advertised online and the description of the food was different. Despite this, we decided to order the chicken bites. Unfortunately, when the food arrived, we were very disappointed. The fries looked pale and seemed to be similar to frozen oven chips from the supermarket, served in a plain white bowl. The breaded chicken bites were served in a separate white bowl and had no sauce as mentioned on the menu. When we asked for the sauce, the server seemed confused and eventually brought some sauce drizzled on top. The chicken bites were dry and tasteless, and the overall presentation of the food was lacking, with everything just placed on cheap white plates and bowls. It seemed that the quality of the food did not match what was shown on the website. Additionally, we had a dog jumping up at us while we were trying to eat. Overall, while the pub may be a good spot for drinks, the food was subpar. I wish I had taken photos to show the disparity between what was advertised online and what we were served.
