"My wife and I live nearby, just three stops away on the Northern Line. Instead of going to our usual spot for Sunday lunch, which requires one of us to drive, we decided to try out the Old White Lion in East Finchley. The food was presented nicely, with my wife ordering roast sirloin of beef and myself opting for a rack of lamb. However, when the food arrived, my wife had to ask for horseradish, which was forgotten and only brought to the table after she had almost finished her meal. The rack of lamb was delicious, especially the red wine jus, which was the best I've ever had. Unfortunately, the sirloin of beef was overly fatty, making it difficult for my wife to enjoy her meal as she had to constantly trim away the fat. The drinks were also quite expensive, and we were surprised to see a 10% service charge added to the bill. The prices were already high, but the service charge made them even more so - for example, a pint of Peroni ended up costing nearly £8 after the service charge. Overall, our bill for two mains, two sides, two desserts, two drinks each, and a Bloody Mary came to £138, which we felt was very expensive for a pub meal on a Sunday afternoon. The food was good overall, but with the high prices and service charge, we probably won't be returning."
