"As of March 10, the Pack Horse has reopened under new management. They are currently operating on weekends only, from 12:00 PM until late on Saturdays and Sundays. Please note that they are only accepting cash payments until their internet service is sorted out. They have a selection of cask beers, including the White Rat and the delightful Cute Thrasher; I tried the White Rat and found it to be excellent. This spot is popular among walkers and cyclists, and despite the limited service, it's still a favorite. An update: starting from March 10, they will open at 5:00 PM on Fridays (though there’s no food service on Fridays yet) and will serve meals on Saturdays and Sundays from 12:00 PM."

It was our first visit under the new management. Reminds us of the original pub we loved going to years back. Food and service great. Will be eating there regularly.

Still a great pub, up on the moors above Hebden Bridge. The new management are finding their feet. The food menu is great, but the range of beer on tap is a little limited.

I had a wonderful time visiting this 17th-century pub. The food was delicious and was served promptly. The atmosphere was beautiful and cozy, complete with real candles, which added to the charm. Ver carta

Walking in to this hospitable place with logs burning in the fireplace and fine ales served by friendly faces after getting soaked in driving rain on the bleak moors is a most glorious thing. Remarkable whisky collection as well !

"Really unfortunate our last experience was so poor compared to when we visited in the summer. Visited as a family on a Sunday and was surprised there was seating for us, we were grateful. Lovely atmosphere and nicely decorated. No staff members to be found but sign said to help ourselves to a table. Don’t like the ordering at the bar thing but that’s personal preference; however makes it feel very much like a Wetherspoons. After ordering, we asked where our food was as we were waiting more than 40 minutes. It came a few minutes later. Kids chicken and chips, absolutely fine. My partner’s steak was beautifully cooked to his preference and seasoned well. I ordered a burger which stayed it was “smothered in melted cheese”. Two slices of cold cheese on top, with a burnt to a crisp burger bun underneath. How they thought it was okay to serve this is beyond me. I took it to the bar, got an apology muttered at me. Two minutes later it came back with a fresh bun, but everything else plonked on top, clearly microwaved as was overly hot and the cheese shrivelled up and dry. Undercooked soggy bacon on top, way too salty. One of the worst burgers I’ve ever had (which after having a quick scan through the reviews, I’m not the only one). Ordered desserts, which were very good. Christmas pudding stayed it came with a brandy sauce, my partner asked if it was a creamy sauce. The woman behind the counter had no idea at all. What turned up was custard? Which was unusual. But the actual Christmas pudding was lovely. Think we will try again but hope the mounting negative reviews are listened to. It’s such a good spot, especially in summer so would be a waste if the quality didn’t match."
