"Wow! Last weekend nine of us attended a baby shower at the tearoom. We prebooked and we all ordered afternoon tea. From the beginning to the end of the visit was amazing. We were welcomed by a very friendly waitress who took our order. Two of the party were Coeliac (gluten free) and they had put aside slices of cake for us incase we wanted it. The sandwiches were excellent especially the gluten free. They can be dry and tasteless but these were full of filling and perfect. The gluten free scones were the best you could get. They didn't crumble and you were able to spread jam and cream easily. The carrot cake was lovely too. Moist, tasty and didn't crumble. The other guests enjoyed their afternoon teas as well. A huge variety of sandwiches and cakes. Friendly staff throughout. We weren't rushed at all. We were able to sit back and relax. Even at the end we were all paying separately and one of us cleared the payment. The waitress excepted the apology and sorted it for us. One of the reviews mentioned that this place was as good as places in London. I honestly have to agree. Perfect from beginning to the end. We will all be returning in the future."

Always a lovely place to go for lunch or a little treat! Very family friendly, with highchairs but leave pushchairs in the car as there isn’t room for them indoors due to the cosy nature of the tearoom. The decor is fabulous and outdoor benches are available. Toilets and baby change are elsewhere on site. The food is perfection and the service is always good. Staff are always very friendly and we always look forward to visiting.

We found this place online website looked great menu choice was amazing we did book then arrived early and told we could have a table but only for an hour. Place is very small cramped, the choice of cakes was very poor we made our cake choice had coffee, I was surprised the cakes were wrapped in clingfilm, friends cake was dry, mine had hard frosting not great we paid left, it was overpriced for the quality whole experience was disappointing. We both ended up with upset tummy’s within a couple of hours. Cannot say it was due to our visit but a tad coincidental. I would not visit again or recommend to anyone.

We enjoy eating here but really feel that the prices have started to get a bit silly. I understand that prices have gone up quite considerably but a childrens cheese sandwich, some crisps, a small fruit bowl (one type of fruit) and a cup cake (which I noted I’d not the large one that it used to be) is now £9. It does come with squash but clearly that’s mainly water .,. An adults sandwich and crisps is also £9 then a drink on top. Sadly we wouldn’t come for lunch in a bigger group now (my parents refuse to pay the prices) based on the price. However I do enjoy the food here so the two of us would likely return on our own Ver carta

What a wonderful way to spend my daughters 1st birthday. It was warming, friendly and welcoming. The staff are attentive, and all a joy to speak too. Without asking they brought out a candle in a cupcake for my daughter with our afternoon tea. Everything was scrumptious! We were able to put a birthday banner up by our table and celebrate with ease. Although the atmosphere was busy, it was very pleasant. we were taken care of the whole way through our time spent at the parlour tea room. I would highly recommend and would defiently visit again. The decor in the parlour tea room is classic, beautiful and well kept. The perfect place for our occasion. Thank you all for a lovely afternoon.

I walked all the way to Viables cafe from hatch warren with my daughter and grandson specifically to visit the cafe only to be turned away because we had a buggy with us. We were told it was due to lack of space, yet there were only a couple of customers in there with loads of space. Definately NOT family friendly...!! As I was unable to respond to your reply I have added here... Your reply was not what I wanted to hear...! I didn 't envisage a...

"Our first visit. We cannot praise thank The Wellie highly enough. What a find! Peacefully rural on a quiet road to the south of Baughurst. A classic, pretty country pub, now converted to an excellent restaurant, with three rooms. What strikes you first is how immaculate The Wellie is, inside and out. The large garden is a delight. Masses of dahlias and all manner of bushes and plants. Birds, birds and more birds. Do check out the vegetable garden beyond the rear car park. You then walk inside to the warmest of relaxed welcomes from the owners, Simon and Jason, and manager, Sheila, and their lovely young helpers. Nothing is too much trouble. The first thing you’ll spot is the array of fruit, veg salad for sale by the pub bar – the Wellie Deli. Along with home made jams, chutneys, quiches, etc. I then spotted the two hand pumps! Longdog Golden Poacher Basingstoke Pride. The seating inside is for diners every session is a sell out! But I was very happy to sup several excellent pints of well kept draught Basingstoke Pride in the garden – until I discovered their Negronis! Truly the best this side of Kwant (Piccadilly). We’d opted for the room in the pub: the Apartment. Two rooms on the first floor, knocked through. Enormous comfy bed, large rainfall shower, sofa, mini bar – two TVs! Free milk homemade shortbread. One of the discoveries we made here is the fabulous tea they serve from Prince Sons. As you can tell by now, we were very happy with our first stay at The Wellie… and then we went down for dinner! A truly exceptional menu from Jason’s kitchen, which changes each evening. Highlights were the scallops wrapped in pancetta, the pollack, the lamb pot pie, the twice baked cheese souffle, the NY cheesecake, the rhubarb ice cream, the treacle tart... All so fresh, tasty, and mainly from their garden. What we loved most was it was relaxed but fine dining without the tiny portions. The Full English breakfast the next morning was equally tasty. All in all, we did not want to go home! Thank you Simon, Jason Sheila. We will be back, soon."
