"I’ve lived in the area for over eight years and this is the first time I’ve frequented the Penny Black. I noticed that it was a Youngs pub, which was a positive for me, and remember reading a while back but that it was formally...the Post Office, hence its name. I noted that it served a variety of real ales, craft beers, wines and cocktails and is known locally for its range of Burgers as well. Maybe not de rigeur but the draft Perroni was excellent. But it does cater for most tastes with a good choice of Vegan options. It has TV’s for all Sports but seems to be leaning towards Rugby. It also has Live Music on at least once a month. It’s nicely laid out inside with plenty of seating and I found the Staff there very good. It was only a brief experience but on the basis of what I saw will definitely return. Shame I left it so long to discover. There’s also eating outside for that Al Fresco experience, now that the weather is improving!"

fantastic warm and friendly, with high quality sunday roasts and a brilliant selection of beer and wine. highly recommended. eat them a tad expensive, but worth it. they look forward to returning. also brilliant for sport.

Had a very enjoyable evening with my son at the Black Penny last night. The pub was very busy, perhaps because Chelsea and Spurs were on the TV. Great atmosphere not least because the staff were excellent warm and welcoming. Not the widest menu...but our burgers were very tasty and the brownies and ice cream really hit the spot. We would not hesitate to return in the future.

My partner and I had just explored the small town. Lovely guided walks round the town. But a sad town centre there are plans for improvement much needed. But the Penny Black was a haven at a quiet lunch time. No sport. Quiet spot...by the window. Very well kept beer. Good pub food (best chips ever opined my partner), And top quality personal service (plus a chat about the town) by Kai a good guy. Warmly recommended

We went for lunch yesterday, originally two of us but bumped into a friend with their parents-in-law and invited them to join us which they did. Luckily there was space as it was busy but not overly so. I would recommend to book in advance...if possible. We had an excellent lunch with a good relaxed atmosphere in the pub. The Youngs Special (Bitter) was probably the best pint I have had in years, So I had two! They were busy but it all just worked and the service was good, friendly and helpful. I have no hesitation in recommending this place and next time we are in Leatherhead we will eat there again. Our unplanned additional guests very much enjoyed there lunch too and would recommend it.
