"As we're allowed to socialise again outdoors and beer gardens are open we decided to take the plunge and meet friends for lunch in this village pub. We know the pub from their midweek quiz nights (pre-pandemic) but had never frequented their outdoor facilities before....The garden is large, peaceful and attractive and gets loads of sunshine. seating is a mix of tables chairs and picnic benches and there are a couple of gazebo areas for shade. There is a dedicated side entrance and first stop is a table for signing in and collecting menus. Tables are well spaced out around the garden. There is a rear window to the bar which is perfect for placing orders and your drinks and food are brought out to the table. All in all we were very pleased with the social distancing and covid secure measures. the menu is quite varied with sandwiches, pub standards, pizzas etc. all really well prepared and reasonably priced. Choice of draught ales, a hoppy bitter or a darker more malty option."

on the search for lunch with friends we were a little late on the day, but were warmly welcomed, ordered and eaten immediately. our tellers were heated, eat perfectly cooked, classic pub-grub. the excellent friendly service. made this visit for us. Thank you! Ver carta

We didn't know what to eat, so decided to drive just down the road to the Royal Oak. We were not disappointed we both opted for the Sri Lankan Lamb curry, it was absolutely amazing. The food was fantastic and the curry came with rice,...poppadoms, nan bread and an onion bhaji, exceptional food and highly recommended.

Called in for lunch when out for a walk. It was during the restrictions so there were distancing measures in place. The lunch menu was pretty comprehensive even though we had sandwiches with sides. Sandwiches were good but the garlic bread was undercooked. Not...a wide choice of ales but what we had was well kept. Service was excellent and the pub was immaculately clean. It would have been stars if it hadn't been for the garlic bread.

Because you’ve joined the government scheme for the discount it doesn’t mean that you can serve at of the quality Everything was served in a bowl which made the presentation awful and the quality of the food wasn’t very good either; I was...served a tough piece of chicken covered in a tasteless sauce with some vegetables with chips that all sat in the bowl so everything was mingled together. Not a good mixture. Every time I put my knife fork down they slipped into the bowl got covered in food. Won’t be rushing back Ver carta

So, you are driving down the yes a thankless task I know, and need to stop. The is a desert as far as good places to feed and water the traveller. Fear not, just three short miles from the tortuous stream of traffic,...is the Royal Oak at Goodworth Clatford. It is only three miles, you are travelling hundreds of miles so what is three. The inn is a refined county pub, situated spookily in the country away from the fast food expensive Tranquil and inviting the staff and lovely and the food and drink, beer for the non drivers, is just excellent. Plot this on your sat navs for a regular stop on the seemingly endless journey to, of from, the west county.

Friday lunchtime beautiful sitting corner, very friendly and fast service. the main menu is very good, but the addition of many specials makes it really hard to choose what to have. the usual selection of pub dresses, but with pizzas, sandwiches, plus. somewhat more unusual choices like Moroccan lamb or venison burger. there were many fish options that are rare for the Andover region that I went for thai green fish curry and mrs h went for posh fish and chips. the Thai dish was wonderfully cooked and full of taste, but the wild fish and chips. wow. we both think it was the best fish and chips we ever tasted were almost like roasts, the teig was so light and delicately flavored.

"hursley needed a decent pub for the years, I found that the competition was a alienating atmosphere and the quality of the food was bad. since hearing the dolphin had new owners I felt that I had to test it, and I must say I am 100% impressed! and I am. said the pub will also be restored in the next months! first I visited with my daughter for a dessert with just us. we were greeted in the pub and our table shown. everything was very clean and my daughter immediately fell in love with the old building and history. the menu included some good clips for children, as we all know that they are with what they eat! eating was amazing! such a high quality and quite expensive. it was made clear to the house and there was no part of it I did not enjoy. the same applies to my daughter who cleaned her teller, and this is rare for her! ben, the manager was warm and friendly and checked for us, but was not intrusive. that can be difficult so I was impressed! the employees were so friendly and very interacting when they spoke to us, they went extra mile to take allergies too. If I were not a native, I would rent one of the rooms they have so that I could eat and drink with a short stolper to bed! if they were not, then they do not wait, the new owners also have the hunters and this is another amazing pub, so it is great to see that they know what they do and use local products and keep the community feeling of the village alive. I would have made more photos of the food, but it was too good to wait for photos! I'll take more when I'm next!"
