"We phoned and booked a table for the Friday night oyster happy hour from 5.00 until 6.00 , at the time of booking we were told we couldn’t have a table until 5.30 but whatever oysters we ordered would be honoured under the happy hour offer… after travelling 20 miles to reach the pub , we were put on the smallest table in the pub … there was no one else in the restaurant!! We were then informed that the oyster happy hour had been stopped!! Considering they had our telephone number we felt they could of phoned and told us at the start of the week !! We looked on the pubs website and the offer was still on the sorrel horses web page, and it still is now as I write this review!!!! We did inform them that they were advertising illegally and if we were trading standards there would be a big fine !!! After confronting the waitress about this they did eventually agree to honour the offer….by this time there were still no customers in the restaurant considering we wanted to have a table at 5.00 .. We ordered a dozen oysters and whitebait .. the oysters were nice and fresh but the whitebait was nice but six pieces of whitebait for £10 really!!! We had king prawns and fries for main which were ok … there we’re still no customers in the restaurant!!! I hate being ripped off !!! We will not be back……."

Fabulous welcome. Great beer and amazing food. Fish was beautifully cooked and salad was great in the side. It was more than enough to share.

Enjoyed a superb birthday lunch here including escargots, goat’s cheese salad, bœuf bourguignon, flan and tarte tatin. Excellent cremant de Loire and Bordeaux topped it all off! Highly recommended.

Set in quiet village. Shottisham, some way from Woodbridge. Clean, tidy and old world decor. Staff very friendly and helpful even explained what colour sorrel was! Decent menu, well cooked, good sized portions. Staff even recommended which wine.Recommended After has a walk around the small village church, pretty

We had a wonderful seafood feast at the Sorrel Horse. We started with the seafood platter and then went onto to the most delicious lobster thermidor and my wife had moules frites! A lunch to remember! So wonderful to see a local pub serving local seafood, cooked perfectly with wonderful service. We can't wait to return.

The Sorrell Horse is in transition between owners. The menu is much reduced and there is a general sense of hand over. Young staff did brilliantly given obvious limitations and the menu that was available was generally excellent. Wish them all the best at the next stage. It is a comfortable welcoming environment that deserves to succeed

Have just had the most delicious lunch at this lovely place, sitting in sunshine, outside and under a parasol, eating the most wonderful food. The service was great, friendly and smiley and not too rushed. It’s a real treat to go here, and I’m sort of glad we don’t live too close because it might stop being such a treat if it was our local.

Superb quality food and service in a lovely setting . All food was absolutely top drawer, especially my shellfish plate which was delicious and also HUGE. Others had mussels, baked Camembert and burgers. Very nicely done interior, great atmosphere and fantastic fish. Our favourite restaurant in the area. Nice wine list short but interesting.

We recently enjoyed a wonderful evening at the Sorrel Horse with friends. It was a night full of delicious food, wonderful wine and great service! We are all seafood lovers (however to menu had something for everyone! so we enjoyed oysters and snails to start. Followed by sole, moules and fish pies. All cooked to perfection and washed down with a bottle of wonderful white Rioja!

Just had a really disappointing experience here. Previously I have raved about this place because everything about it has been wonderful; sadly today was a complete contrast. There were only 2 people serving but even so, there were so few customers, it shouldn’t have made a difference. We had to wait a good half hour for our food, and although it was lovely and hot, we sad were not impressed with the service. Charlie, the lad serving, was lovely and efficient, the other lad not so, and why does no-one answer the phone? We heard it ringing endlessly, and indeed, I couldn’t get through on the phone either. Feel very disappointed.

"Sunday of our recent visit to aldeburgh was the Mother's Day and we welcomed the opportunity to taste the afternoon tea in the white lion hotel in adleburgh. the conditoir chef at the white lion is anmar odendal, an award-winning wedding cake designer. by her business crumb, she was recognized in 2013 by the high-time industry as the best wedding cake designer in the eastern englands. Our afternoon tea was florally inspired and included a selection of sandwiches, scones, cakes and pastries with a selection of tea, a glass champagne and a little pot flowers for mama, all at an incredible price of £20. it was overexamination good value and hard to think that we could get so much for so little. in a comparable iondon establishment would cost a afternoon as this probably at least £35 to £40. the selection of the fingersandwiches was delicious and included standard fillings such as gurke, sink, ei and water circles. the scenes were quite seductive, as they presented us an appealing texture. the outer was crispy and the interieur was soft. warm stuffed, the scones went floating with the dipped cream and delicious homemade skyberry jam. to the sweet things (my favorite part of a afternoon,) and on the top level of the tablet there were some beautiful pink meringue sandwiches lined with rosen water chantilly cream. these were delicate and as light as spring, and the combination with the cream was a good one. also on the top level was a zesty orange flower and vanille panna cotta sown with Indian orange blossom water and with fresh orange cest, popping sweets and a berry jelly. the jelly was particularly delicious as he was very fruity and helped to lift the panna cotta. the popping sweets was also a good note and gave the panna cotta an exciting twist. the panna cotta itself had a good consistency, but needed a little more vanilla for more taste. to move on the floor, and we really enjoyed the dark chocolate breweries as these were decadent and rich with an intense chocolate-y quality. the lavender sprocket was buttery and light, and the homemade makkarons of beet root and berry with a vanilla buttercream frosting filling were very welcoming. the macaron dishes were a little dense in the texture, but the taste combinations were a joy and were a joy to eat. a pistachio viktoriaschwamm came with a fabulous rose blossom jam center that really lifted the sponge with its sweet and exciting nature. it was a wonderful combination, and the sponge itself had a nice taste, although it was a touch dry. the themes for the afternoon tea on the white lion will change with the time as chef anmar constantly seeks new ideas and brings colorful inventions to the table. but is sure that every afternoon tee will be very pleasant. unique, colorful and funny, the pastries we tried were inviting to eat and showed solid technology. her creativity demonstrated the artistic and originality in her design. the sandwiches and skorn were also very good, and at a ridiculously reasonable price of £20 per head, the white lion showed that it is doing really well in the afternoon. I calculate today afternoon tee with 3.75/5"
