"Love this place and the fish selection available on the menu. We arrived on a Saturday and used the online booking system but I don’t recall it giving us the option to tell them we were bringing 3 dogs with us. We arrived early and popped in to say we had 3 dogs and the lovely guy who was leaving the next day arranged a nice table for us in the main bar. Some people arrived after us for lunch and headed for the dining area with dogs but needed to be redirected as clearly didn’t know dogs are not allowed in the dining room. We prefer the main bar as is nice and spacious and great if you are bringing dogs. Oysters were amazing as always and the lobster was great although I would prefer the salad that accompanied it to be in a separate dish rather than on the wooden board. Can’t wait to come back here it’s amazing and if I lived locally I would be there every week. Thanks for a great lunch."

Fabulous welcome. Great beer and amazing food. Fish was beautifully cooked and salad was great in the side. It was more than enough to share.

Met up with friends, had a fab meal, loved the moules and frites. The staff, especially Jake were attentive. Just a lovely afternoon with great food and service. Thank you

Enjoyed a superb birthday lunch here including escargots, goat’s cheese salad, bœuf bourguignon, flan and tarte tatin. Excellent cremant de Loire and Bordeaux topped it all off! Highly recommended. Ver carta

We had a wonderful seafood feast at the Sorrel Horse. We started with the seafood platter and then went onto to the most delicious lobster thermidor and my wife had moules frites! A lunch to remember! So wonderful to see a local pub serving local seafood, cooked perfectly with wonderful service. We can't wait to return.

The Sorrell Horse is in transition between owners. The menu is much reduced and there is a general sense of hand over. Young staff did brilliantly given obvious limitations and the menu that was available was generally excellent. Wish them all the best at the next stage. It is a comfortable welcoming environment that deserves to succeed

Superb quality food and service in a lovely setting . All food was absolutely top drawer, especially my shellfish plate which was delicious and also HUGE. Others had mussels, baked Camembert and burgers. Very nicely done interior, great atmosphere and fantastic fish. Our favourite restaurant in the area. Nice wine list short but interesting. We recently enjoyed a wonderful evening at the Sorrel Horse with friends. It was a night full of delicious food, wonderful wine and great service! We are all seafood lovers (however to menu had something for everyone! so we enjoyed oysters and snails to start. Followed by sole, moules and fish pies. All cooked to perfection and washed down with a bottle of wonderful white Rioja!

Just had a really disappointing experience here. Previously I have raved about this place because everything about it has been wonderful; sadly today was a complete contrast. There were only 2 people serving but even so, there were so few customers, it shouldn’t have made a difference. We had to wait a good half hour for our food, and although it was lovely and hot, we sad were not impressed with the service. Charlie, the lad serving, was lovely and efficient, the other lad not so, and why does no-one answer the phone? We heard it ringing endlessly, and indeed, I couldn’t get through on the phone either. Feel very disappointed.

"This wasn’t our first visit (the previous occasion was more positive than this) but this was really quite poor. Problem after problem, service was poor and just not very welcoming. Firstly, drinks weren’t available issues with draft, but then bottles weren’t available either. So there was a very limited selection of drinks on offer and the staff weren’t proactive in advising what was available. So it was request and receive a no! Secondly, the food was poor. The starters were shocking. Really quite bad. There was a bit of redemption from some of the mains, but we elected to not proceed with anything else as it wasn’t great. We had to wait ages for drinks and foods to arrive despite the fact that the restaurant was practically empty and many staff present. Frequently there were 3 staff at the back of the room standing about chatting, but they weren’t attentive to our needs. They didn’t check around the room to see if guests required additional drinks or require plates clearing. They didn’t check to see how the food was and when we complained regarding a starter they simply didn’t know how to handle it. When the draft beer came back on there was no proactive behaviour in returning to the table and letting us know so that more drinks could be ordered. Drinks were poured in wrong glasses, plates were cleared whilst people were still eating and then not cleared when they needed to be! Simply put the staff working had no idea on what table service should be perhaps they had received no training which is a major failing when the restaurant is part of a hotel. It was not welcoming. The restaurant was freezing cold. The service was really very poor and the food disappointing. They also don’t take dogs which in Aldeburgh is a bit weird. There is plenty of space and the tables are large so they would not be in the way. We won’t be returning."
