"A lovely pub. Came a couple of months ago and was fantastic. This was the first Friday of pubs/restaurants opening with less restrictions so we expected a bit of chaos! We were right, service was slow and things were coming out at unexpected times. BUT the staff were doing their absolute best in extremely difficult circumstances. Very friendly and apologetic but we were told lots of new staff, lots of staff in isolation (I told them to delete that **** app It’s not sustainable to run a business in these circumstances. All in all the staff were doing their best, nice food, nice drinks, we will be back ????"

The meal was excellent and the service was very friendly. I will definitely be returning in the summer. Highly recommended.

Kelly the waitress was so helpful and funny. Enjoyed an excellent seabass and sticky toffee pudding! My husband said his dirty burger was very good too.

This was the second time of visiting, first time service was appalling and it was again. Had to find someone to get a drink, same again for bill. This was done wrong twice.Lovely waitress presented the food, but got the feeling we were an inconvenience to the manager.

Unfortunately, our reservation was not honored, so we had to wait for 20 minutes to be seated outside. Despite receiving confirmation via email, the table was dirty and when we asked for it to be cleaned, the staff did a poor job. The food was tasty but pricey. We may consider other options for busy Sunday dining in the future.

First time at the ’new‘ Spade Oak, and we had a warm and friendly welcome, introduction to new staff and explanation that some were being trained. The menu had varied, interesting and flexible choices, and food was served hot and all tasted very good. Nice to have a reliable and inviting place to eat in walking distance along the river. A busy restaurant is always a good sign, and we will definitely return.

My first visit to the "new" Spade Oak was wonderful. We were warmly greeted by friendly staff, introduced to new employees, and informed that some were still in training. The menu offered a wide variety of interesting and flexible options, and our meals were served hot and tasty. It was great to have a dependable and welcoming restaurant to dine in along the river. The bustling atmosphere of the restaurant was a good sign, and we will definitely be coming back.

The staff at the restaurant was friendly and polite when we arrived, but we ended up waiting for quite some time before our food was served. It turned out that the kitchen had forgotten about our order, so our main courses were hastily brought out before our starters. We had to set aside our main courses while our starters were prepared. Fortunately, our main courses were salads and were not affected. Overall, the service was friendly but painfully slow throughout our meal.

"We live in Marlow and have been to Sindhu a number of times, and previously enjoyed it. Not this time the food was good (not great) but the service was appalling. Way too rushed and unprofessional. We arrived at Sindhu around 7:45pm, expecting to have a pre dinner drink at the table. No chance! The first thing we were offered were popadums, then they took our drinks order. We opted for the wine pairing to go with the tasting menu. The total bill for two came to £325, but as this was our first night out together in months we were happy to pay this for a long evening with good food and drink. The first course came before we had finished the popadums, but it seemed to speed up from there. Th courses were small, but we were expecting that, but what we weren’t expecting was to be given the next course as soon as the previous one finished. Each wine was brought over with a very unenthusiastic rushed explanation of what it was. At one point we asked the waitress if we could delay the main course to give us chance to breathe between courses. She didn’t really understand what we were asking and stated that we had a palate cleaner before the main course. Which arrived immediately. Our meal was done by 9:45, 7 courses plus popadums all served in two hours, 15 minutes to eat a course and drink a glass of wine. We were the last table in the restaurant (there were only 6 tables altogether on a Friday night). When we left, the waiter already had his hoody on ready to leave, emphasising that the staff were just wanting to leave. At it was only 10pm! We won’t be returning. No way should this be considered Michelin starred food."
