Outstanding good, as always. Great service from the wonderful Abid and his team.

They may have been going for many years but they seem to be on a roll at the moment with a great atmosphere and excellent food.

Food is always excellent. Service is attentive but never intrusive. My friends value being able to bring their own alcohol. Overall great value for money. Ver carta

Very good food and attention. The service was exquisite and the restaurant is very modern and clean. The food had a lot of flavour and felt very authentic. We will come back.

Food was awful. 3 pieces of lamb in the lamb balti, portions were small, Naan was burnt. No poppadoms or mint sauce. The price we payed was extortionate for what we received. Never again, will we waste our money here. Awful.

Tried this place for the first time but very disappointed. Pathia was not even recognisable as a pathia, very watery and flavourless. They used the cheapest prawns possible as well would rather less of nicer prawns than a ton of cheap ones. Rice portion was very small and naans were not enjoyable. only nice thing was the daal, but we won't be back Ver carta

Super neighbourhood restaurant. Although this venue went through a difficult patch, in my opinion, in terms of service and food quality, it has restored itself to its formerly excellent reliability. I shared a meal there last week with a friend, and the food was delicious. An added bonus is that they serve ras malai, which has become increasingly difficult to find on menus. Super evening in a convivial, relaxed environment. I will be going back regularly.

Disappointed with food. We've been going/using Spice Merchant for years and we've never really been disappointed with food, we were this evening few bits of meat swimming around in too much sauce. 2 mains and 2 sundries cost over £32 and no poppadoms included either. Far better quality and value for money local indian restaurants now available locally. Really sad to have to leave this negative review after so many years of it being our favourite restaurant/take away.

I am a long standing customer of The Spice Merchant and unfortunately the consistency just isn’t there. It’s never bad, sometimes great, but mostly good. Recently prices seemed to have increased across the board, but also portion size has been reduced, so it no longer feels like value for money. The naan is almost half the size, but is almost twice as expensive. The meat in most dishes seems to have halve too, but are now about £3 more expensive. Popadoms used to be included, but are no £1 each? Ver carta
